Zen, Lobster And Morphsuits

This weekend was one of the best in recent memory. I spent two whole days at my cottage on the East Coast. I walked on the sandbars at low tide. I watched the sunset on the watery horizon. I bought a lobster from one of the local lobster fishing shops and then ate it while I sat on the beach and gazed at the water.

It was a very zen like experience. I had virtually zero stress or anxiety for an entire weekend.

The only fly in the ointment actually turned out to be an accomplishment too. On Friday evening, before I went to my cottage, I accompanied my boyfriend to an outdoor concert and then the Canada Day fireworks. I was feeling so positive about the entire experience....that is until we got out of the car and started to walk through the crowds of people. I was still feeling okay but a little nervous ...and then I saw "Them". "Them" being two guys dressed up in those damn coloured morphsuits that cover the entire body, face and head. I nearly jumped out of my skin as we had to stand right next to them as we waited at a stop
light to let us cross the road.

I started trembling and crying quietly as we stood on the corner with them. I had only ever seen those morphsuits things on tv and let me tell you, it's creepy as hell. It's bad enough to be scared of regular everyday people but when you can't even see their faces it's a million times worse.

I figured I was done for the night right there, but I pulled it together and we walked the rest of the way to the concert with me sniffling and wiping my eyes. We stayed at the concert long enough to hear one song before we left to go see the fireworks. It may not sound like much but it was a huge victory for me because my anxiety was extremely high after meeting up with those morphsuited men but I didn't turn around and leave like I normally would have.

I stayed!!!

30 mins later, the fireworks started and I had worked through the anxiety enough to sit and enjoy them. I am so damn proud of myself, I could cry!

I still feel like a winner because I actually left my house, went to an outdoor concert with a lot of other people around, had an experience that freaked me out but stuck with it

You did great! That must have been so difficult to face that situation but you did it and not only that you continued on to first make yourself safe, move forward, then ground yourself the rest of the weekend. Well done!

WOW Kaii, congratulations, that is quite an achievement in your life and you will be able to refer to it and get stronger. You have all the right in the world to be proud of yourself and permit a good cry of relief. Those kind of tears are very healing for the soul my dear. ((((Kaii))))

It may sound like a small success to some people, but I know it is a HUGE success! Congratulations Kaii! I am happy that you got to enjoy yourself over the weekend. :)
