Hello Folks,

Thanks to all the Members that take the time to Welcome Our New Members!

Of course self care, self soothing and recovery come first, but it is appreciated when folks participate.

If everyone Welcomed a couple of new members each month we would be sitting pretty, but I know some people don't feel comfortable or don't have the time, and that is fine. We all contribute in our own ways.

Lately we have had a few Members "Liking" the Welcomes to the New Members - and that is also a lovely thing to do as well, so it was suggested that I start a thread about it here.

So if you have the time and feel inclined to do so you can go here and "Like" the Welcomes to the New Members. Link Removed

Cheers,

One of the beauties that I have found in hitting the like button with welcomes is that it allows the members to understand they are not alone. To be among this board and to be accepted (which is different then 100 % approval ;)) has honestly increased my healing within self regulation.

It is a kindness to allow others to feel seen. Many of us, knew the taste of being invisible and isolated. So if you have a little time and feel up to it, we would sincerely appreciate any assistance as the board is growing.

As well, a loud shout out to those members that encourage during the introductions, recognize those whom donate, and offer such warmth and/or likes to the newbies elsewhere. Your efforts are extremely valuable and I am in awe!

Frankly it makes it more difficult to read profile updates - which I actually care about - and scrolling through a bunch of likes is a peeve of mine, but hey... do as you wish. It is a peeve only and will not ruin my life or anything.

Welcoming is a good thing, but liking the welcomes? Ah come on.

Actually it is a peeve of some- @The Albatross, understood. However, when I initiated the 'likes' with offering it to Spock it was for a lot of solid psychological as well as physiological reasons for the greeter plus the newbie. Teaching on the net for 15 years, I saw studies within our statistics that quantified as well as qualified the difference that the "like" button could make. I saw the changes in opened dialog and many other ways.

Feeling acceptance, being heard, feeling like one can count and opening a dialog without fear starts with a single step at times. The internet field can't convey the initial warmth of a smile, so other communication methods must be extended or explored. How we choose to express our welcomes to the newbies is of course individualized.

Some find fault in the amount of welcomes, the welcome itself, the like button...yet, we are all human with differing views. However, thanks to @Ms Spock and so many others, there are extensions made to those- whom took their first courageous step to visit this board. And for that, I give much thanks, to the many that wish to contribute to a board that makes a difference.
