Tobacco Smokers- How Did You Stop?

Tips please?! I used to be a long distance runner before I took up smoking.

I don't know if this will help you, but I smoked heavily from the age of 14 until 45. Except while pregnant of course. I got nicotine gum and lozenges and just had them all the time. I didnt wait until I craved a cig before using the gum. I think that is really the key, because its the only time I was successful. The first thing I did in the morning was put a lozenge in mouth and kept one there all day. Also, drink lots of water, a lot of people think the headaches and mood swings are nicotine withdrawal, but most of it is detox from the other chemicals in cigs. I'm very physically fit, always have been a rock climber and hiker, people used to get shocked when they saw me smoking because I'm so healthy looking. The smoking was a shield keep people away and numb out. I'm 48, I dont have the lung capacity I should, its hard to get back. I'm so glad your trying to give it up. Lots of water!! Good luck
