Second Degree Black Belt

So despite the fact that I have a badly damaged right leg (the result of many, many abscesses and 23 operations), I was able to focus on the task at hand and pass my test to get my second degree black belt. I'm proud of what I've accomplished. This opens the door to a whole bunch more stuff I get to learn to do.

Congratulations, well done. I have my first dan but haven't done it for about ten years now. My daughter is 2nd Dan and loves it. It makes it even more rewarding when you have to go through all what you have to achieve your goals. Third dan is not far away now !!!!

I started martial arts twenty years ago. Due to life circumstances, I had one break that lasted eight years, and another that lasted two and a half. So factor those in, and it would be about 9.5 years to go from white belt to second degree black belt. Our school is very traditional, and there is a LOT to learn with each level. Not just physical stuff, but mental/emotional stuff and lots of history, plus learning the Korean terminology.
