A study published this week examines the link between PTSD, cognitive impairment and dementia.
Study was done on emergency responders to the World Trade Centre, 9/11/2001.
The major findings are:
The average age of study participants was 52.8 years, and they already displayed symptoms suggesting possible dementia.

- Link Removed of responders had scores indicating cognitive impairment, and 1.2 percent had scores that suggested possible dementia
- Both MDD and PTSD were associated with cognitive impairment
- Re-experiencing symptoms were strongly associated with cognitive impairment
