Anyone In The North Georgia Area Want A Sweet Kitten???

Found this adorable little guy at work a week ago. He's probably only 4 months old, weights a pound or so, and seems to be in really good condition. He had quite the flea infestation which I think is gone now.

He's a big time snuggler, likes cats (unfortunately mine don't feel the same about him). He's playful, of course, but actually very calm for a kitten, getting more lively now that he's feeling better and is comfortable here. He would probably be fine as an indoor only cat if that's what you're after, but he does show interest in being outside. He's half litter box trained...was doing good until he decided some potted plants were a nicer choice. LOL Now I take him outside and he does his business with no problems.

I am a big time believer in getting pets neutered/spayed, so I would be happy to do the running around and paying for the procedure to be done before he goes to a new home with no cost to you if price is a matter of concern. Just want him to have a good home and I know he'd offer someone a lot of love.

Hope these pics work.

Last chance for any takers. He's not so calm anymore, now he's a regular energetic kitten who goes tearing around the house and pounces on the other unsuspecting cats. :joyful:

I just called my local animal shelter, which is a kill shelter and I was very worried, but I talked to the man in charge who I have actually met a few times before since we both work for the city, and he said since he's worked there (years) they haven't euthanized any cats at all because they have good luck in finding them homes. I feel soooooo much better.

My only other option was a private rescue group that does not euthanize, but I've dealt with them in the past and they're one of those types where they think that nobody can care for the animals the way they can and end up with a VERY strict adoption process with so many hoops to jump through that in the end they don't place as many pets in good, loving homes as they would if they got off their high horse just a tad. Not to knock the good work they do at all, just that they kinda make things harder on themselves as well as the potential adopters. And no, I was never spurned by them, but I have volunteered with a few groups and have seen the way this one could be improved.;)

@Peach, thank you for being so conscience about placing him.

He isnt a black cat, whom has trouble finding homes, but a blue, which a ton love.

If he's sweet and energetic, he likely will find a home but if the shelter puts them in a single cage (as opposed to opened rooms with other cats) he likely will change a bit. Not all do but a lot do. They get anxious, scared, etc.

If I gave a cat to a shelter, Id ask for some proof of their claimed steller adoption rate, and visit him often. Just seeing you can help in their anxiety over being caged all the time alone. I wouldnt even take their word about him not being caged alone, go there and see if the cats are in sungle cages or big rooms together.

Rehoming into a good one is hard but doable. Make sure where ever you place the add, you include a $20 or higher adoption fee to ward off sell to animal experiementers. I gave my bunnies, both, to a "loving family" with 2 kids whom loved them. Two days later I found the 3 story cage in the trash which was a few hundred dollars, and the kids said "what bunnies? We dont have bunnies". Yeah, I can only wonder and prospects make me super sad! I then researched and found out thats a thing and Criag's List actually has it stated which I learned later in rehoming my sister's cat.

Also, applications! Can't stress that enough. Criminal background checks looking for any animal abuse related charges, which is public record and can be found cheap on
Want to find someone? Do a confidential people search to find their contact info! which is where Ive done all my background check (and found my high school mentor later as an adult).

In home checks. Id make sure the adoptor is keeping him indoors. I know you commented about that but the average age of an outdoor and outdoor/indoor cat is 3 yrs old. Id make sure they are keeping him indoors. Id educate about declawing being cruel as they take not just the claw but the entire first knuckle (something I didnt know when I did it to my 2 cats that are now having issues with their front paws): Dead Link Removed

Advise, instead of claw covers like Soft Paws SoftPaws.com - Nail Caps for Cats and Dogs

And in the in home visit, look for car funiture, other animals, small children, dog doors (and a cat fence...top bend inwards making it impossible to climb and making it less likely preditors coming in) and make sure they are fully educated about all of it.

Rehoming is hard but when you place the animal in that home and make them smile, the work is worth it.

Either way, id make sure the shelter is good if you go the shelter route.

I admire your dedication for this kitten! There are so few caring people!

I agree with just about everything you said.;) Don't worry, he'd stay with me if I felt the shelter was shady or the guy was dishonest, but I do know him a bit through work and he has nothing to gain by volunteering false information.

I'm so sorry about your rabbits. That would be beyond heartbreaking!

I love animals...way more than people. Still waiting to win that lottery so I can get my Best Friends (in Utah) -esque animal sanctuary up and running.

He's a sweetie. Love his color. Our shelter here makes demands on adoption here too. They put you through a intake and practical read you the riot act about taking care of your animal and what you will and will not do. It's freaking nuts....and they charge an arm and 2 legs too.....

Hope he finds a good home with lots of love...

Yes, and the home visits really get me too. I know some people are not very bright, but surely most of us have a pretty good grasp on what to do and not to do. I think the issue with people who don't take care of their animals is more that they don't care rather than ignorance. If you care, then you make an effort. The second problem is not having the money for unexpected vet bills which should be considered before you get an animal, but A) having an adoption fee puts that in perspective a little bit and B) just because you're financially stable and able to pay the vet now doesn't mean your circumstances will be the same later on.
