Having a really awful day.
Sooo tired and triggered. I have great coping and grounding tools + 3 kids to take of right now and running on empty. Just nothing is working or I just don't have any time for me right now. One of those keep on keeping on. I just don't know what to do or how to keep going on... any ideas?

Hi stp2012
I'm new here and oh do I feel your struggle right now. I've been in that space so many times. I've been known to put a movie on for the kids and go and take a hot shower...that's my space to take a breath...and then I go back to trying my other tools. I find I just need a little bit of head space so I can keep my head above water to battle through it. Don't know if that sort of thing is possible for you to do right now...hope you can find something that'll help you...

thank you @Blurred . That's something I would normally do as well. Unfortunately that's not an option this time. Maybe I can get a few hours of solid sleep tonight and feel some better to face another day tomorrow. It's a temporary situation but I've just reached my limit. I knew it would be hard and kept thinking 'one day at a time'... now another day seems another day too much.

I feel for ya.... my hubby is deployed and me time is rare. Obviously making PTSD hard to cope with. Any support you can get from those around you may help... if that's not an option then hopefully you can get enough rest to deal. Truly hope it gets better for you soon. Even the small things may help, like organizing your day to have a couple hours to yourself at night to unwind or do something relaxing while kids are in bed or in their rooms. Feel better:)

Ok, get a massage so that you remember what relax feels like. I usually ask for female masseuse. This money is so worth it. Otherwise, one of those foot massagers, handheld one for your neck. You are forced to slow down and focus on you. Take like ten mins. to yourself. Kids can make it ten mins.if you give them a great project to do. Good luck, hope you are able to grab some down time.

I'm new here, and can so relate. Trying also to figure this out. After being constantly triggered at work and in the midst of humanity, I'm finding it helps me to come home and put on a relaxing piece of music and just "be" with my cats. No TV, no Facebook, no anything else. So far, that's the only thing that is helping.

I use what Blurred suggested - breaking it down into 1-5 minute segments... like 'I can eat a little something' then, 'I can shower, 'Okay, I can do the store for a few groceries.' Sometimes this works for weeks at a time till I can get back to a better place.

@stp2012, do you have a place that you can sit (after kids are places that are safe) to just decompress and try to practice some mindful stuff; DBT stuff; grounding stuff; breathing stuff?

It helps me to get physically away from the chaos for a moment and decompress.

I hope you are feeling better!

sometimes it's more like one hour at a time...or even one minute at a time
Yes, that's exactly it. It is one minute at a time. Anything more is too much. I haven't been this way for a long time. A strong reminder that I really have come a long ways.
