Neurokinesis think it's a relatively new technique that slowly catching on. It is being taught be "coaches" rather than therapists and that concerns me. However from what I've read it can be very effective, similar to emdr and brain spotting.
The coaches go through a month or so of training and then offer free sessions to people suffering from anxiety, depression or ptsd. They say they did a study on people in Australia who have combat related PTSD and it was 100% effective. I don't know how many people were in the study or how they rated the effectiveness nor how many sessions they had with their coach.
What concerns me is that when doing the technique you are to begin with minor distressing memories (rated 1-3). Then you slowly move up the scale as you begin to have more success at bringing your rate of distress down. You are supposed to practice this and do this work by yourself. In my opinion this is potentially dangerous and could cause more harm that good.
I did one session and it seems to work on those minor things but when I try to move up the scale, I have a hard time finding anything except for truly distressing traumas or at least traumas that should be distressing but that the emotion has been numbed out and suppressed. I'm not sure this type of heavy work should be done on my own time.
Unfortunately the woman who taught me is in the process of being "certified" and needs x number of people to do this for a month and report their progress daily. I can do that on days when I have minor stressors but otherwise I can't. Not to mention that I either forget to do the technique or to log in and report the progress, if any. I feel bad for leaving my part unfinished.
Would love to get some feedback on this.
