So, about the income tax thing. First, I'd like to say I'd not be surprised to learn he's paid little to no income taxes. And, I'd expect him, like all of us, to do what ever he can to reduce his tax bill. We all heard that he's a genius and knows as much about the tax code as anyone and that the smart thing to do is not pay anymore than he to. Noted.

Me, personally, I'd like to see the tax code changed so there aren't quite so many deductions that are only available to people like rich investors. How likely is it that a "smart guy" like Trump is going to make any changes that aren't in his own interest?

I don't think Trump's failure to release his tax returns has to do with the $916 million (almost a billion) that he lost. He's actually admitted to not paying any federal income plenty of times before. It's also been known for awhile that he's been through 4 bankruptcies. He's already been found to use using charitable donations to pay off business lawsuits. I doubt he's hiding lack of charitable giving.

He's still so defensive about releasing his tax returns... that suggests to me that there is something else going on. I don't have any clue what it is. I'm purely speculating. (So take this with a grain of salt.)

What is known is that he wants to give himself more tax breaks as a "reward." Which is disturbing. I don't ever get to give myself tax break like that and I'm pretty sure the job description of president is not supposed to include awarding one's self more money.

I just checked my google voice number and email address that I use for political communications. Since I was a GOP delegate, only briefly to vote against Trump, I get a lot of GOP emails.

Oh my goodness. The GOP is imploding. They are finally backing the long standing calls to remove Trump from the ticket. They are fully able to pull him off the rocker even the day before the election. If it'/ still Trump': name in the ballot but a new nominee, any votes for Trump simply go to the new nominee (this is true for every party candidate.)

I know how you feel, JMH, but at least Pence is not likely to start a nuclear war over an insulting tweet. I don't agree with him on most issues, including the choice issue, but I respect his evidently sincere faith.

Yeah, I think we're down to that level. Who is least likely to start a nuclear war, and on a less globally catastrophic but still very important question, least likely to sexually harass/assault women he comes in contact with?
