For nearly twenty years I have been unable to sleep when it is dark out side. I have This idea that if someone comes I need to be awake and ready to defend myself. I worked nights for some time because I knew it wouldn't allow me time to doze off (nursing). Now I am physically and certainly psychologically unable to work so am home at night. My husband leaves for work around 3 & the ensuing hours until daylight are bone chilling. I have sleep meds but can't take them till just about Sun up so my day is all screwed med time wise. I spend more time awake than the hardest core methhead.

Actually went to sleep tonight only to be woke up by a nightmare. I did sleep three hours though so that's good for me. Husbands still asleep. These are some of my best hours, he's here and even though I'm awake I don't feel scared. The heater is turned on for the season and it makes creaking noises as the wood floors cool. Makes perfect sense now but will be like footsteps in a couple of hours when he leaves. I like to hear him breathing and our chow dog snoring like a grown man lol.

I luv luv lurrrrrv night shift! :woot:

it's perfect for PTSD, alert & being distracted at night, fall asleep at dawn and sleep half the day and therefore ignoring people and having an awsome excuse to isolate :bookworm:

But when trying to re-claim citizenship in the land of the living? :wtf: Enter: insomnia.

Made literally LOL:) I know for sure you're a dedicated grave yard shifter! Yeah, it was great, awake in brightly lit busy place, cops and emts in and out all during the scary hours. Then home, snoozing all day so no one comes over to bother the day sleeper. Now I'm home at night awake and afraid. Happy night shift to you though!!!
