I didn't hear a single thing about MDMA
Yeah, because pure (the therapeutic type) MDMA is not normally available on the street. The problem is that ecstasy could be any mixture of drugs.... and I think there is a thought pattern out there that MDMA is dangerous like ecstasy because they keep tying the names together when reporting about MDMA. Which, as these studies prove, it is not. It can actually be super helpful.

Another problem with tying the names is that people may thing that taking ecstasy would be just as good as taking MDMA. Which it is not. Far from it. Damaging.

What is D.A.R.E?

D.A.R.E. is a school program in the U.S. directed towards kids that teaches them about the dangers of drugs (some of which are obvious lies).
I didn't hear a single thing about MDMA in D.A.R.E. back when I went to a regular school, only ecstasy.
DARE is idiotic. Or was when I was in school. Be glad you didn't hear about joints being laced with PCP by dealers in order to addict you. I was frigging 10 years old, in fifth grade, and by a year or two later, what they called "angel dust" was not to be found. Ecstasy came along, and Ketamine was the thing.

Also peer pressure never happened the way the DARE people said - if anyone said no, everyone else would be "cool, more for me!" lol

I didn't really hear much from D.A.R.E. in school other than types of drugs and how they can destroy lives. And I didn't hear about it in junior high or anything like that because I dropped out of my "regular" homeschooling program prior to signing up for their health class and then transferred to my whatever you want to learn school. I think I like five or something when I had it lol. NOBODY feeds meth candies to kids bc they don't have the freakin money.

The peer pressure shown in D.A.R.E. would've made a lot more sense if it applied to sex imo. The only drug-related peer pressure that I ever dealt with was from my shitty psych NP who threatened to put me in inpatient if I quit taking my meds. But sex, on the other hand? Too much of that!!! I wrote an entire rant on here a few days ago about how some girl at my school got mad at me because I didn't lose my virginity and have kinky bloodplay sex with her after knowing her for only THREE DAYS. :p And now she's been super pissed and talking smack about me to everyone but I don't care because most of my classmates don't have respect for her.

It FDA sleeping with big pharma. Yea it strong pill.

I do think it could be helpful for some people but I wouldn't want to try it even if it was legal. There are plenty of risks though.

Ok, for those who don't understand this, thinking its going to hurt people, start with: MAPS - MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy and keep reading via the research data.

Pharmaceutical grade MDMA is NOT ecstasy. News outlets use ecstasy because it gets ratings and attention. They're very different products and MDMA dosage is nothing that will do much for you than a short burst of relaxation within a therapy session, then its gone from you.

Geez people... read.

Yeah, read. Out of 20 posts, the only place the word "Ecstasy" is misused is in the subject line. Who are you even addressing? This is a thread in which a zillion messages said "Ecstasy and MDMA are not the same thing." Correct. Good job.

I absolutely agree with you on that. Emphasizing sex ed might be time better spent than the attempt at anti-drug culture via DARE. It is sex that is all hush hush and filled with pressure. The other thing is, drug education will always be behind the times. You can't teach 10 year olds to say 'no' to specific drugs when they haven't even invented what will be most popular 5 years later.

An excellent point! It's almost bizarre.

I wonder if they have at least tried to catch up with the times in the anti-drug curriculum. - I'm thinking about a past when people were having fits about latch-key kids and fingerprinting first graders in case they got 'lost'.
