New Here
So I have no idea what's happening to me, I think I was raped 2 years ago (never said no or fought him but was severely depressed, have anorexia, drunk, scared, vulnerable and didn't want to but was paralysed with fear) and recently I've been having
Flashbacks
Nightmares when I can sleep (rarely)
Panic attacks
Fear of men
Even worse social anxiety and depression
And I just can't stop thinking about it.. .
Idk if it's normal but sometimes I can deal what I felt like, him touching me, the pain ( I was a virgin)and the way I felt afterwards like I'm reliving it laid In bed at night,
I want to tell my therapist but she's for my eatingdisorder so idk if can..
Does it sound like ptsd or something else?
Cause it's been almost 2 years and all these symptoms are recent.

No one here can diagnose over the interwebs. That being said....

It could very well be PTSD. It is very common for symptoms to show up some time, even decades, after the traumatic event.

Eating disorder therapists run into clients with PTSD and traumatic histories all the time. It's quite common. In fact, 22% of people with an eating disorder have full blown PTSD, and many others have some of the symptoms of it. (Link Removed)

I hope you reach out to her and talk with her about this so you can find effective relief and supports.

I am so sorry for what you have been through and are suffering. None of us here can diagnose you. I would imagine that your eating disorder therapist has experience with this and would be very receptive to your telling what you can. Many eating disorders occur in those who have had some kind of trauma. i hope you find needed support on here and from your therapist.

I am a recovering anorexic and excercise addict as well as living with ptsd so I understand it can be overwhelming and feel like your drowning in thin air keep strong good luck opening up to your therapist

I too was raped when anorexic

and I think it adds a little extra dimension to be horrifically unable to deal with ones body and have it happen. I would suggest looking at her website so see if she mentions trauma. As Justmenow mentioned a lot do have some experience because of the commonality of ed's and trauma. The other option would be to book in to see a psychiatrist for a formal diagnose or see your dr at first. Its def worthwhile speaking to your t about this. Is she behavioural? What sort of ed therapy are you having? Symptoms can pop up later - delayed. Regardless of if it is full blown PTSD or not its obvious you need some help with this.

If your t lists specialising in everything and the kitchen sink then I think its probably she isnt a trauma therapist. What you decide to do depends too on your relationship with her but even when they specialise other things come up and trauma ad eds are often a common theme so she will have heard a lot.

Welcome here.

I would definitely recommend talking to your therapist. You can certainly tell her and if she doesn't feel experienced to help you, she always point you in the best direction of someone who can. I agree with a lot of what @Justmehere said about the link between eating disorders and PTSD meaning your therapist might have experience with trauma. I also agree that no one here can diagnose you. However, I would recommend you seeking help with it.

@Jezzica , if you don't think you have the courage to bring it up verbally, would you be able to write something out even if it's just, I need to talk to you about something but I am scared to or the general topic of what you want to talk about. Do you ever e-mail her? Sometimes I e-mail my therapist something that I know needs to be talked about but am afraid I won't bring up. That way she has it ahead of time. Best of luck.

I find any amount of distance (such as telephone or writing) makes it easier.

Did you look at her profile on line? You might be surprised. You wold knock me over with a feather if she hasn't dealt with trauma related stuff before and is an ed t. Speaking about it is perfect. And if she thinks someone else would be better placed to help you with it she will refer you on for that. Its really ok to do.
