Re-reading Childhood Faves? Suggestions?

I do this when under stress. I always think back to my favorites from childhood, rather than seek out new works.

It's actually fascinating to re-read childhood favorites!

The only 'new' kids books I've read and loved are the Harry Potter series and the Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer series.

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

I read this book when I was 15, and loved it. I found a lot of comfort in the tale, something I desperately needed at the time. I can't even remember how many times I've read it since. I prefer the 1943 Woods translation, her work keeping with the original author's tone.

The Baby-sitter's Club series are awesome too!
.
I was absolutely obsessed with The Baby-Sitters Club. There was a period of time my wonderful, patient mother drove me to B. Dalton at the mall after school once a month, to buy the new one as soon as it was published. And that's not counting the super specials and the mystery -spin-offs. - This was when paperbacks were $1.99.

You know what's funny? I can't remember how I knew which day each new one was coming out, without having google or anything. But I always knew. Information was indeed available pre-internet.

Harry Potter. They are making illustrated editions now; the first two are completed!
The Polar Express
Charlotte's Web
The Trumpet of the Swan
The Giver quartet
Little House in the Big Woods
Some of these are books I didn't finish when I was younger but now would like to.
The Eragon Inheritance
Inkheart/Inkspell/Inkdeath
Nancy Drew

If you like childrens mystery, how can you go past the Famous Five...?
Thanks @pixel and @Ronin.
I never heard of the Famous Five - but I looked them up and they look charmingly old-fashioned, so if I'm feeling daring and off the beaten path I might dive in to these new-old children's books! They remind me of something I have not seen mentioned here - the Betsy-Tacy books by Maud Hart Lovelace - and the Noel Streatfeild "Ballet Shoes" books also.

I also really like the Philip Pullman books - I was so disappointed by the movie of the Golden Compass - it had such great potential! Maybe they will re-work it as they have done with A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix.
Harry Potter, that's automatic, even I was not buried too far to take note of those! Well I missed the first 3 or 4 but I did catch up eventually. :geek:
