I Don't Think My Therapist Is Very Good.

It is JSA you can't get for a period if you are voluntarily unemployed. ESA is only assessed on how ill you are, but is harder to get for MH conditions. It comes in two qualifying versions, Contributions based which depends on how much NI paid over the last two years, and Income Based which should kick in otherwise, but won't if you have a partner who is earning. Although as Suzetig says, it does pay your NI 'stamp' even if you aren't poor enough to get any actual money, and Income Based ESA does entitle you to free prescriptions, though Contributions based doesn't. It's a morass, but with enough effort and support you can get somewhere.

I'm sorry, @Frogs88 - it sounds like you are going through a tough time.

I lost my last job due to PTSD, keep crying at interviews, and not allowed benefits, until something gets better I can't find work, but I can't get better until I get work ( can't even afford prescriptions at the moment). And I've not got family to help.
You posted in another forum that you were starting a job as a pot washer today - how was your first day?

I am where I had EMDR, but not with the same therapist, I don't think they'll allow me the same therapist.
Have you asked?

Do you think you are finding things to dislike about your current therapist because you would rather ba back with your old one? Sometimes when everything is piling up, the cognitive distortions come into play. You might be catastrophizing the situation with this current therapist.

I ask because you are are doing something similar with the employment situation - you say you can't get work, but you did get work. So, you are probably assuming that this new job won't work out before it even starts. That's another fairly normal distortion - the only way we can beat those is by checking ourselves and making sure we challenge them.

She sounds like a therapist I had who terminated me after I disclosed sexual abuse I remembered. Some of them just. Ain't. Competent.

It's not your fault, and frankly, I would rather have no therapist instead of a rubbish one, but, do what you need to do, if you have no other options, stick there until other options do come up.

It's escalating now, my therapist called me this morning and said that I didn't fit the criteria to have EMDR on the NHS. I'm going to talk with her boss today, but I can't believe how much of a fight it is to get the right treatment. At the moment I would say the PTSD is coming second to the frustration of trying to get the right treatment and support, why are we made to fight so hard for treatment when we're tired by fighting to led normal lives with this.
