Like most things, I am putting this to the members of the forum to do something different and change the avatar system that exists and replace it with a more unique and fun system, called Living Avatars. This is made for Vbulletin and a few other forum softwares, which integrates with the forum so that members can create and change their avatars as they see fit.

Basically, you buy your basic girl or boy with points you have earnt from posting... all these rules I setup if I purchase it. I can make certain items special, some more points than others, ie. fashionable stuff could be more expensive to purchase than standard stuff, so those with lots of posts who have earned lots of points from posting, can buy exclusive stuff. It is basically a fun way to get people to talk, because by talking you earn points to buy more stuff.

I can make items unique, like one-off collector pieces, that once purchased by a member can never be purchased by another, so they have something unique to every other member. There really is so many variables that it just isn't funny. I would prefer people actually look at the system itself by visiting the website @ http://www.livingavatars.com. They have a forum where you can quickly register, make test posts, earn a few points and check out the system. I registered under Anthony, made a few test posts, set myself up a quick and cheap avatar.

It is a reward system, though it gives every member the ability to constantly recreate themselves. For example, if you're having a bad week and want to bury yourself from the world, you might wear some goth clothing... if you are happy and going to the beach you might change your avatar to beachwear, etc etc.... it really is an interactive avatar so you can just change it as you see fit. The best part is that you earn points and can purchase unique pieces with those points.

There are many many packs that I can download from the site, sift through and add pieces. Start with standard pieces and introduce one-off's and so forth, or more expensive pieces that people have to work towards in order to have.

I don't have all the answers as I have only read the site itself for an explanation of the product and had a quick play with it myself. It took me a couple of minutes to work it out, but I did it and no doubt if you read the instructions you will quickly work it out also.

I really think it is something that can be quite funny and amusing, something to help people smile.

What do you the members think? Yes or no?

I just want to add.....that Anthony and I incur these type of costs for improvements on top of the running costs of the forum as our contribution to the forum for the benefit of the community.

I know a lot of people here struggle financially on benefits etc but for those of you who can afford it donations for the benefit of the community are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My opinion probably won't be popular, but hey, it's just my opinion... I looked at the site, and it reminded me, of when I was a child playing with paper dolls. I think it's kind of childish!!!! Could be, because I am 55......

I voted no....

Sorry, Anthony, had to vote no! Simply don't care for the kids. I would prefer little animated animals. I have a little cat on my MySpace page that is so cute. But, I just don't care for the kids

Well I wouldn't mind either way. It sounds alot like what I have for my xbox 360, I made it a female with flashy clothes and a great attitude and the best thing
is she never complains.
Later.

FIRE.

I guess I voted no because it doesn't really matter one way or another. I guess I"m just not that into it. Plus, I"m like Herc, I like animals, plants, etc. and I'm not a video game player.

I looked at the this site and did see the basic girl and boy with some of the additional expressive stuff, but I also saw Avatar packs that had: Wow backgrounds, Summer backgrounds, Pets, Zoology avatars, Warhammer Space Marine avatar pack and more.

The only problem I had was discovering where exactly to quickly register to make test posts, earn points and really check out the system. Looked to see if it was some pop-up blocker feature on my computer or blocked items thingy etc. that was disallowing me from identifying the register button, but didn't see anything like this occurring.

My question is: Is there any other address to the forum site, so as to register?

A bit confused, but I voted yes, despite the (yikes) buy, buy, buy comment that follows the yes choice. Not really comfortable with voting yes..buy, buy, buy, but quite comfortable simply voting Yes.

Whether the simply the basic girl and boy, plus avatars or whether such would include more from other packs, ,,,

I like the idea of greater possibilities of funny and amusing and smiling, ...........admist healing, suffering and helping when I can.

So, again I'm voting Yes.

I think it is a cool idea....would be fun to see what everyone does with their avators ! And yes, it does bring me back in time of paper dolls....and that is why it brought a smile to my face :).....So I would vote yes :)

Those large eyes on the avatar kids are just creepy. They remind me of cheap oil paintings from the 1970's in which all the girls and boys and animals had big, sad google eyes. You can do it if you want, but I am happy with the variety of free ones you offer now.
