That awkward moment

So I decided to see a new therapist and switched because I wanted to try brainspotting with a new T. I saw my old T for 2.5 years, she helped me with a lot. My old T and psychiatrist share the same office. I went to see my psychiatrist today hoping I wouldn't run into my old T. Well first my old T spotted me out in the waiting room and said hi to me. I said hi back. I came in with a walker because I fractured my femur. So I met with my psychiatrist and was on the way out scheduling my next appointment and in walks my old T asking me what happened. So I told her my story and she walked me out. It felt so awkward. Like she cared about me but didn't care about me. She started to get a bit emotional when I told her the story which made me get semi emotional. It was super awkward and now I kind of feel bad for abruptly leaving her.

Try considering it like changing jobs and running into an old colleague. Not someone you're friends with, but someone you otherwise like & respect & wish the best for. You might work with them again, someday, or might never. But as there's no ill-will between you two? You can bump into each other in professional settings & be just fine with each other. Not friends. Not enemies. Just former colleagues.

"She just didn't fit my needs anymore" This; it's great that you have identified new needs and taken steps to meet them! You should be extremely proud of yourself! This step is crucial, but can be very hard for many, so well done!
