My own court case - proven on all 9 counts and an additional 27 in a different province, only did 2 years.


Also we don't have Megans Law here like the United States does; we can't look up where offenders are, their age, sex, location and pictures of them. This is considered an invasion of privacy under Canadian law.


Oh and uh, where I live on the West Coast and being friends with some of the good RCMP people, they've informed me that the map is COVERED with the most offenders in BC.

Not trying to jump in the middle Deadman, but you don't know exactly where "here" is other than Canada. It could be that perhaps she lives in an area where she has done research and found out there are an abnormally high number of practioners with a history.
And, that's really beside the point. I think she came here to seek support for her doctor being a pedophile and dismissing her sexual abuse. Whether or not the other information is accurate or not is irrelevant at this point. Perhaps because you are from Canada you can give some guideance on some support networks??? Just a thought.

Thanks for this. I don't know anything about medical practitioners in Canada, but that a "majority" would have longstanding histories with molestation and pedophilia seems like a bit of an exaggeration. It also can be dangerous, I think, to suggest that most of folks practicing medicine in an entire country have that history. People will be afraid to go for care.

It's reasonable to expect people anywhere to be cautious when choosing their caregivers to verify licensing and prior criminal background histories. It's especially understandable that someone who has been in a situation like the OP would be extremely cautious when looking for someone new.

Given the sentence structure it appears that when she says "here" she is referring to Canada, not the town where she is living. So if anything the fault lies in the original statement. It really does make the most sense for "here" to be Canada given the context clues and the fact that this is an international forum. I'm with deadman on this one given what was said and how it was said.

Sounds to me like @outsideperception is explaining how they came to be of the opinion that CA is way too lax with sexual offenders.

Since my personal belief is that any country that doesn't publicly flay child molesters (then roll them in salt, and set them on fire), or have death by Unga Bunga on the books is being too lax? Much less allow them to return to work with vulnerable populations in a position of authority? I would tend to agree.

Meanwhile it reads to me @Deadman is reality checking prevalence / if there are actually laws to prevent what happened already in place & this bloke fell through them? Which is just f*cking useful, especially in dealing with trauma where 1 & sometimes, very quickly becomes everyone & always. So actually looking at what's prevalent? Can seriously help both short & long term. It doesn't change that most psychiatrists aren't child molesters, or that this one was, but it adds an extra layer of security if it's also illegal for them to be.

I'm not trying to speak for either of you... And could very easily be wrong in either or both of your motives.

It's just how I'm reading the crossed wire. We could dissect language structure & semantics all day long, or just see 2 people answering the same question from 2 different points of view.

We all know PTSD can result in distorted thinking. Most of us have done it. I know I have. And I always prefer someone call me on it rather than give me an e-hug.

I don't think she knew her doctor was a pedophile off the bat. That is the point of the post. She went to receive help for sexual abuse, her dr dismissed it, she did research and found out he was a pedophile and now she is trying to figure out what is next. Now she is here to ask for support and we are arguing over sentence structure and where "here" is.... evidence why some people leave here feeling badly about the site. Whether or not ALL of Canada has a majority of dr that are convicted felons, or just where she is likely will work out in a therapy room. It doesn't have to be solved here nor are we giving her an e-hug to skip past whether or not that fact is distorted thinking or not...however what bothers me the most is that the OP is dealing with SA and now finding out her dr is a convicted pedophile. That would be a major trigger for a lot of us. Put yourself in those shoes if you can just for a minute and decide if you would rather have someone lend you a listening ear and work in to whether or not most dry are felons, or just jump on pointing out the distorted thinking because that really is the most important thing to address in the OP's story.... Just my opinion.

Precisely; commonwealth countries have a longstanding history of violent sexual offences within the elite that goes without consequences. That being said I'll be gone for an undetermined period of time. Thank you for your help.
