Is all good Red. Sometimes people cling to what they feel comfortable with when dealing with us. It can make the process even more difficult for all involved.
My biggest reason for resisting any sort of "treatment" before ending up with a house full of cops is I feel that the tendency to "medicate and forget", rather than actually treat is the number one issue for PTSD vets. I was lucky in that my father in law was a pretty severe PTSD case,so my wife really seems to understand what this mess is.
I was also lucky in that the brain-picker I got stuck with in the brain farm is a vet himself and is considered an "expert" in the field.
This process so far has been very frustrating for me as I dumped my military training, my contractor experience and pretty much everything else to do with ships, water and shooting the living shit out of anything that moved to pursue a PhD in biochemistry.(four more years to go!) As a result, I tend to have a pretty decent understanding of what is going on and refuse to let the brain-pickers manipulate me based on something the read in a textbook one time. This is why I am questioning the use of the Prazosin in my case. I am not a fan of alpha and sodium channel blockers.
Currently, I am reading up on every paper published on military PTSD. It is going to take me a few weeks, but I refuse to play the game without a bit of preparation.
