For me this goes back to a medic I met in a bar down on the Gulf Coast. I had been under the illusion that when a man went down, couple of his guys grabbed him and pulled him back where the medic could work on him. Boy did he open my eyes. Not only did he not have a long weapon, but he carried a WWII vintage .45 1911 that had aim "issues" and he hot footed it up right where the nasties were buzzing everywhere.

I'm thinking, this guy has to be nuts. The more medics and corpsmen I meet, the opposite is true. They're just average guys that don't usually think of themselves as special or anything. There's one in my Vet Center group.

Here they just tried to shoot a medal through for the guys that joystick the drones. Why isn't there a special medal for medics and corpsmen?

I did a little air drop work during the Six Day War and can tell you for a fact I wouldn't want to be downrange from some Israeli Army Women. They really know how to use those autos hanging off their shoulder.

After seeing a nurse in scrubs looking like something out of the TV show MASH, I started having a ton of respect for ladies in uniform.
