New Here
I am wondering how many people might be interested in MDMA assisted psychotherapy?
If there is sufficient interest I will get a clinic up and running as quickly as possible.

Treatment would be in Portugal over a period of 3-4 weeks.
Performed by an ex-military British psychotherapist with experience in combat PTSD and the MDMA treatment of it.
Treatment involves long sessions with the therapist, which the MDMA helps with, it is not just medication.
After treatment you do not need to take MDMA or anything else again.
It wouldn't be cheap though.

Research shows MDMA assisted psychotherapy to be very effective for patients for whom other treatments have not worked.
A 2 year follow up of the initial study had 79% of patients rating the treatments benefit as 4 or 5 out of 5.
And 63% of patients saying “Virtually all of the benefits have lasted”.

A few important facts:
We would be using pure MDMA, not street purchased Ecstasy which can contain other substances.
MDMA has been proven to be totally non-addictive.
Pure MDMA in the doses we would be using has been proven to not be dangerous or cause any long term effects.

Treva31, what is your part in all this?
I'm not sure if this is reaching out to the people here or an attempt to find test people for a treatment that's been done in Israel for years.
There is already lots of work done with MDMA as a therapy for vets with PTSD.

in the doses we would be
Your use of the word WE feels as if you are part of a team for treatment.

Respectfully DD.

Myself and a Psychologist colleague were talking about setting up a clinic in Portugal.
Not trials, full scale treatment.
I want to know if that is something people want.
Rather than waiting years for it to be approved in USA etc.

So you are saying you can go to Israel for treatment right now so there is no need?
Or is it limited there?
Do you know the name of it?

It's part of the VA treatment access for Israeli nationality vets only. Up to a few years ago only for cases considered a lost cause (apologies if this comes across as harsh).
It's not part of the regular treatment for PTSD.
This in a country where PTSD runs in high numbers due to it's unique situation.
They are very experienced in both diagnosing and treating PTSD over there.
There might be private clinics for paying patients as well. Really don't know.

My concern is over two points perhaps.
1 Use of MDMA is for now, not considered safe. Nor are many meds frequently used, prescribed by physicians.
The emphasis changes on what is safe and what is not.
Anyone considering this might want to educate themselves before making a decision.
I'm not taking any ground here.
MDMA has been proven to be totally non-addictive.
A statement like that is one I wouldn't take responsibility for. Again, respectfully.

2 I understand you are just looking to see if anyone would be interested in such a treatment.
Perhaps someone of the admin crew can shed light if your question belongs on this forum.
It might well be in the right place.
Rather than waiting years for it to be approved in USA etc.

Edit to say: The use of MDMA has been a debated topic for 2 decades now.
Your friend the psycho therapist might want to get in touch with (experimental) clinics to share their knowledge.
All the best.

Just adding to say, welcome to the forum.
You are new, not seen an introduction to welcome you.
Make yourself at home. The archives hold a lot of information.
Feel free to ask, we are mostly harmless and do enjoy the company of other vets.

I know is it is safe and non-addictive because those are scientific facts, not matters of opinion.
Politicians and the FDA etc choose to ignore those facts for their own reasons.
And because of that, much of the public remain understandably suspicious of its safety.

And I know it works, from my own experiences, and the research already completed and published.

I say if its safe and it works lets start doing it now, not in 2021 as MAPS hopes to achieve.

So if people want it I am willing to do it, full scale, in Portugal where MDMA has been decriminalised.

Treva31, how bout telling us a little about your background? Are you a combat veteran?
The polls not a great way to introduce oneself. People put a lot of stuff forth and expect little in return.
To just hop on and be like, "Yo who likes hotdogs???" Is kinda risky lol.

I'm waiting to go to an ayahuasca ceremony in spring. Put something about it links etc in the therapy thread.

I served in Iraq, two tours.
I did want to but it wouldn't let me post links. A lot of good research is on the MAPS website.

But its not really about me or the research, I assumed it was common knowledge just not available yet.
I just wanted to know if people are interested in doing it.
I'm guessing not from the response so far.

I hear ayahuasca is pretty amazing, especially for addiction. I haven't done it myself though.
Best of luck to you.

I'd do Mdma on a night out maybe, been a fair few years since I had the opportunity; love a good dance, or I did anyway.

In fact I'm trying to stay away from drugs altogether..

I'd be amazed if anyone takes you up matey.

Welcome Treva.

Yea I remember reading about it, I believe they did studies like this with LSD and what not back in the 70's.
Looking forward to ayahuasca. Thanks, best of luck to you.

Hey Treva

Think of it this way; you go into a bar where you know no one and start telling the people there about some 'snake oil' stuff that will change their lives. why would they even listen let alone believe a word you're saying. People here want to get to know someone before they're going to open up or listen to them. You sound like a salesman hawking drugs and some 'new' treatment program. You have no idea how many have done this here before.

Intro first; where you served, who with, where you live a bit about you now. Simple, it's what people here like to see. Not a poll. We hear of a treatment, 'cure' for PTSD every couple of weeks. If you're a vet I'd suggest giving it some time for people here to get to know you and for you to know us as well. You'll have to excuse my cynicism, but I've kinda' seen it all and don't trust much. Just a heads up; many that don't post are watching.
