Trigger Caution: I wanted to pass this on as some FREE weekend entertainment for my fellow brothers & sisters that may otherwise be holed up like me and not willing or able to get out and enjoy this hot, new flick.

You might check this out before public release. Not top quality but one of the year's best movies, IMHO. I expect Hollyweird will diss this movie for whatever purpose. Hopefully the link works for you too, don't expect theater quality.

You will recognize the effects of war early on in the flick, for instance when he comes home from the first tour and someone fires up a lawn mower outside. The movie really speaks to me like no other movie I've seen (for obvious reasons). Our paths were different in some ways but so similar in others.
Better than most war movies, Clint Eastwood has provided us a quality glimpse into the reality of Chris Kyle's true story, in a manner that shatters the myth that only 20-25% deal with the beast. That is a number totally fabricated for government purposes and by DoD failure, Yet, it is also based on the fact most vets shun the resources available and will never be counted due to solid training, group pride and self-inflicted stigma. This leaves veterans with record suicides, homelessness and unemployment.

There will always be those that will discount and cannot understand such things. I'm happy they don't have to live it and I'm proud of my brothers and sisters that provide them that sanctuary, to live in ignorance, free from the beast.

I'm proud to have shared my war with Chris, both of them...

@Jimmy & @Terrier : Jimmy you should recognize much of these operations. Terrier pointed out how two of his tours crossed paths with our time in country and the intelligence chase that was on.

Thanks.

Audie Murphy was extremely candid about his "troubles" and I don't think anyone was really listening.

Pretty damn good company if you ask me.

We posted some stuff about Audie Murphy before, that was a powerful signal to others that it was OK to come out of the PTSD closet and blow-off the stigma. I agree that too many people didn't listen, then or now, since we have to relearn this topic every time but then again, that works to the politicians benefit to have folks that aren't fully briefed up on what is about to happen to them.

Sorry about the thread derailment, but what really hurt is when I got home I was feeling "like an alien" watching everyone go about their lives. A real outsider looking in. I was in my parents living room for days on end drinking scotch and smoking cigarettes when my Mother asked if I was OK. I just burst into tears. I fell apart blubbering. My Dad came into the room yelling "pick yourself up by the 'bootstraps'!"

That hurt real bad.

That SOB should know better because he has The Beast(as it is called here) and does not even know it.

I know many of us would wait to see this, for the reasons CGF notes, so this is a good deal but I don't like the lost sales numbers the film will get credit for, so perhaps after viewing it, if you like it as much as I did you can spread the word to your networks to go check it out. I've made my pitch to dozens of civilian and military friends and already started a snowball of enthusiasm.

Favorite line: "there are three types of people in the world, sheep, wolves and sheep dogs" We are sheep dogs that protect the sheep from the predators
