I am supposed to be better after 12 weeks?

I am going to confront my T to day and tell him I think he has me all wrong and that I am angry that they aren't taking my medical situation into account.

I talked to my endocrinologist about stopping the prolactinoma medication for now and putting me on birth control to completely stop my menstrual cycle for now so I can get back in my feet physically. Next time I see my psych i am going to tell him I only want to take medication that has worked in the past. If they don't want to prescribe the hydroxizine again, I am not sure what I will do. Right now I just want to focus on getting back to my pre December self.

. If they don't want to prescribe the hydroxizine again

Isn’t hydroxyzine one of the meds that can cause pharmacological hyperprolactemia?

Yep. Just checked. Although it’s an uncommon side effect, meanwhile the correlation to other drugs is much stronger.

Several drugs may determine a significant increase in prolactin serum concentration that is frequently associated with symptoms. The so-called typical antipsychotics are frequently responsible for drug-related hyperprolactinemia.

Risperidone is one of the atypical neuroleptics most likely to induce hyperprolactinemia, while other atypical drugs are unfrequenlty and only transiently associated with increase of prolactin levels
. Women are more sensitive than men to the hyperprolactinemic effect of antipsychotics. Classical and risperidone-induced hyperprolactinemia may be revert when a gradual antipsychotic drug discontinuation is combined with olanzapine or clozapine initiation.

Antidepressant drugs with serotoninergic activity, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO-I) and some tricyclics, can cause hyperprolactinemia.

No, it's not. I researched and researched this I couldn't find any indication or scientific information. Not that this really means anything but I was on it for 5 years with no symptoms and started having symptoms months after i was taken off of it. Any of the medications that do increase prolactin levels I was either on 10+ years before the prolactinoma or took less than 3 days post showing symptoms/diagnosis.

Anyways, I had a good talk with my T. Hubby came with me and I think it helped for him to explain what he has observed.

I was on a different device, so I can’t check my history for a couple days, but the source I pulled (may have been PDR, but I think it was one of the ncbi reference studies) had the incidence really low (like 3:10,000 are the numbers coming to mind) but listed prolactinoma & hemolytic anemia as rare side effects. I will see if I can retrace my steps. It’s vexing me, because on the other device it popped immediately to keyword search and now I can’t find the sucker. That device does have a subscription to the online PDR, JAMA, peer review database, etc., though, and this one doesn’t. Oh search histories :wtf:

It just seemed odd to me that the incidence there was low, but the incidence of the drugs they replaced you with were much higher... hence the link I did post.

From what I was reading though the hemolytic anemia & prolactinoma almost always co-occur, & If you’ve not been anemic it’s all probably just academic / coincidental. Unless I just got it wrong, which also happens!

Now that I find interesting because I do have autoimmune hemolytic anemia. None of my Dr.s have mentioned a connection with that to me. It is pretty well under control at the moment and I haven't needed a blood transfusion or i.v. iron for months now, but that doesn't mean another flare up isn't right around the corner.
