The first band I had a cassette to and fell in love with at 7 years old, first band I loved, first idol I ever had, first readhead I fell in absolute adoration with, first track on their first album. Lyrics in the power of sexuality, power of being a woman, power of control, power I never had but longed for. Beautiful song. Tribute to a beautiful, powerful, sensual lady who knows how to wield, maintain and control her power. And the ending lyric, repeating and repeating: "bow down to me".

I was originally Monster1977. I got the name from a Skillet song Monster, about feeling like a monster. Lyrics here: Link Removed
Skillet is a Christian metal band, and I am a Buddhist, but I totally related to this feeling like a monster when I first had all the memories come flooding back. I was taken to a pedophile ring when I was a toddler through age 5 where you had to stand on a stage and be picked or not. I have horrific memories from this, and in therapy I made a comment like - what do you expect from a child whore - and my T went nuts. "No!", he shouted, "you did NOT choose that"! He went on and on, and I believed him and changed my name to Dharmagirl. I'm glad I did. I'm following the eight fold path as best I can, and even though I still relate to the song, I no longer feel like a monster. Thank you, T.

That's very, very beautiful, thanks for sharing. I always thought your new name was related to dharma and greg, the sitcom.

Ladee is my nickname.... I have no secrets, and if anyone finds me here and happens to read about them selves... well cool, I don't have to say it to their face !! But most people think it is pronounced like Lady.... nooooo, it's like la dee da, with out the da !! lol.... I've thought about changing it to ladeeda, but that just isn't comfortable...I am who I am.
I remember Xena as a kid and thinking how bad ass she was. I liked Gabriel also, lol.
Littleoc, you have to like extreme temperatures. Three of the highest temperatures ever recorded on Earth were right down roads from me. I was smack dab in the middle of the three, but closest to the highest in Azizia, Libya to the southeast. The others were in Tunisia to the west and Gadames on the Libyan, Algerian border to the southwest. All were over 130 degrees in the shade. That's 150 to 160 in the sun. Shake and bake! :D

I would melt! I'm Russian (besides having been born in the US)... I feel comfortable when it's cold -- way below freezing! But I've been trying to visit there for a long time anyway, lol. Those temperatures would melt my house! You must be hardy!
I come from Nordic (Viking ) stock as well. I never knew anything else as being normal growing up. I was there for a lot of years, it just grows on you I guess. When we visited the US in Virginia and California I thought I was in heaven. I could not believe how green the grass was. How everything was so green period. :p
I chose Scarlet because I was pregnant 8 years ago and I was going to name the baby that possibly, but then suffered and early mc so didn't want to use the name again for when I had children. I am happy I get to use it.
I love the name because it means red, a bright beautiful red, but this can refer to trauma. I incorporate bright red in my work as an artist to represent pain and healing.
Also, it has "scar" in it which to me represents healing from trauma wounds.
In another forum, I was "Miranda" because I played her in "The Tempest".
