If you could design your own supersuit, what would it look like and do for you?

Okay, I'm a special needs teacher in a middle school with lots of kids with issues-several have had significant trauma and have flashbacks at school. When they are stressed, having flashbacks, or dealing with bullies, I tell them to imagine that they are like a superhero, and what color super suit would they design? All super heros have a super suit, right. Next, I give them lots of examples as to how the super suit could help them reduce conflict, dull emotions, bring together the knowledge they have inside for a test, or help them focus in class. They have to decide what powers their super suit would have. Then I send them back to class to test it out.

Now, I don't give advice that I don't use myself. I have an emotion jacket for times that I have to maintain composure and deal with my crazy abusive family. Sometimes, I put on a full body super suit for added protection. I have a keen imagination and this helps get me through stressful or difficult times without as many PTSD symptoms afterwards and not lasting nearly as long, either.

So, if you could design a super suit, what would it look like? What powers would it have? When would you put it on? How would you feel when you are wearing it?

It would have magic powers that would allow me to teleport my dogs and cats without any stress to them from in front of the fire to my lap. I would put it on when I needed to step away from the world, when I was overwhelmed, exhausted or just needed to connect. I'd wear it to my T sessions. It would look totally like my normal clothes....no one would know.

Mine would be teal coloured and usually thin but able to fluff up and turn into thick weighted blankets when I press a button or something. It would be loose like a dressing gown (but trousers and shut at the front). I'd keep it at home but I'd have a remote control in my pocket where I could press it n it'd teleport me home to it whenever I wanted. And it'd play music.

I love it! Mine is currently a carrot costume. lol It helps me to better help myself and others visualize that we truly are what we eat, in more ways than one. (three years ago, I wasn't able to even think about fitting into a costume, or standing up for more than 30 minutes at a time without being in severe pain, much less hula hooping while doing it...lol) My current goal is to get more hoops on hips while also offering plant-based tips, both having helped enrich my life beyond belief, and then some.

I feel the costume greatly helps me break down the uncomfortable barriers of using only words/language/direct experience to try to share my story and life-changing experiences. It helps add a dash of humor/comfortable and safe distraction to food related/exercise topics that many don't care to discuss.

Most of all, it helps me remember how incredibly self-empowering it can be to learn how to better control symptoms of various ills with something as simple as my fork that had otherwise been chalked up to a lifetime sentence of guaranteed ongoing misery and expensive complications that had become quite a tangled/painful/exhausting web to try to keep weaving. I'm trying to unfork the world, pretty much. lol

When I feel super shitty nowadays, it helps to go look at my creatively constructed carrot top hat and that vividly bright orange suit while remembering that a bad day now is usually so much less bad/tragic than a bad day used to be, for damn sure. (knock on wood) Shitty is still shitty, for sure, but the costume helps make it a little less shitty in the moment, and I'm incredibly grateful. Not sure what my next gig will be, yet, once this one wears off, but now you've got me thinking that a cape of some sort added to the carrot suit could certainly kick it up a few more notches. :) Thank you!!!

Mine would allow me to control my emotions and help me to have perceptions that know what a person is about to say, so I can be a bit more prepared as to how I will respond. I can be like a fish. I like the way fish can sense what the other fish in the school are going to do and keep in tune with them. Or like a flock of birds. They seem to be able to predict where their flock mates are headed next, they are very aware of danger, almost before it happens. As a group they can move out of the way of it. There is safety in numbers. My Supersuit would allow me to be part of a big group. We would protect one another. We would stick up for one another.

Do you remember Galadriel in the Lord of the Rings? Frodo tried to give her the ring and she was undone. She was afraid she'd try and take it, but he tried to give it to her, she was not ready for that. The other hobbit, Sam said, "you'd fix some things if you had it." or words to that effect and she said, "That's how it would start." There was a sci-fi movie a few years ago like this I really liked it. Chronicle. If I could design my own super suit, it'd start off innocently enough.
