You can't sue your rapist for child support but they can sue you for visitation.

(In most states you can sue for child support once paternity is established. But as you can’t compel DNA for paternity, they have to sue you for visitation & provide a DNA sample to prove paternity, before you can sue for child support. HOWEVER, if you make more than they do? You’ll be paying your rapist child support in addition to handing them your child week after week. Fun fact about MY state? :wtf: Your rapist can compel visitation from prison. As in you have to escort your child to and from prison so your rapist can have their “parenting time”. #MyStateSucks)

Well, if a rapist goes to jail, he's not going to have visitation rights while he's in. But once he gets out ...

It works the other way, too. A few years ago an underage teen boy was raped by a woman. She was later awarded child support from all of his future earnings when she had the baby.

I was thinking more along the lines with rape, if coercion / drug laws where there is so plentiful of those in the US / battery laws & self defense / needed defense would not cover the vics backs instead, even where the rape ones get more skewed with years.

Finding some combination that could be useful & get them caught still.

Actually the NC law has been in the books since the 1970’s. I just read another article about it today, how lawmakers wanted it changed in this session but some important deadline was missed so it can only be passed as an amendment?

I just looked at the primary schedule....my state doesn’t vote until near the end. I think that with a field so deep, it’s a bunch of BS that my options are partially determined by previous voters.

I think I’m not allowing myself to care because I had a full on meltdown after the last presidential election. Don’t care, can’t get hurt, right? Or at least I’d like to think so.

It was the 70’s. NC was deep red back then. Just remember that back in the 70’s women couldn’t get credit of their own without daddy or hubby’s approval. Essentially, women were no better than dogs in the eyes of lawmakers who were almost entirely male.

^So it's an old law that's been ignored and now no longer reflects society's standards?

I do recall being told in the 80's that if I married I would have to leave work!! lol... It wasn't so long ago but that is such a strange law too...
