Supermarket "quiet" hours

A supermarket chain in NZ, Countdown, has started doing a quiet hour where they turn down the store lights, and don't have any music/announcements over the speaker system for one hour every week.

I finally managed to make it in store for one, and omg I've never felt so calm in a supermarket before. I hope other chains will follow this.

Do any stores near you have this?

I've not heard of this before and this sounds wonderful! I think I'll write a letter to all my supermarkets and ask them to do this!
It is brilliant, and so many people would benefit from having it as an option.

Here's the in-store bulletin and the website link if that helps at all when contacting your supermarkets :)

I know when to go. Last week I was a little spaz at the checkout because it was really busy. I don't worry much anymore. I only get a few things in the actual supermarket, which is small and crowded and I didn't go for years. I only became able to go in a couple years ago. I shop in a wholesale club where I've been going 25 years and I have it down. I can't be rattled in there it's like home. I used to make my wife get all the "supermarket" items lol.

I work in a 24 hour supermarket and the only quiet hours are overnight, and that’s only if the night crew haven’t been messing about with the radio! I love the idea, though.

I would Go to a supermarket at night to avoid stuff. What I dislike at night at my supermarket are little groups of people outside - waiting for a friend to get alcohol I guess? Groups by doors are very off putting

Thank you @bellbird I'm going to use this ! I'm not the only one who would benefit. I have more than one friend with permanent traumatic brain injury and the supermarket is impossible to go to--too much light and noise for them. Wow how this would benefit so many people! Even the workers who must listen to that music for 8 hours or more!
