Which is part of why it’s important that people who are sick follow recommendations to stay home for 2+ weeks & self quarantine, rather than going into work for fear of losing their job, and infect the entire center. 1 person quarantining, or 10% quarantining? Isn’t going to cause any problems on an infrastructure level. Whole departments, floors, and buildings wiped out? Is a problem.

LFS also said that the company IS sending people to work from home with their entire kit... top down. People with the longest time/highest clearance; as a basic security precaution... as well as people who are the highest risk. It’s the low level/low risk employees who aren’t being sent home with their entire kit to work from home. At least not, yet. Security protocols always relax as needs must/emergencies evolve. But that also means that they’re depending on each other to not come to work if they’re sick.

What I was challenging was the idea of “no choice”. That she HAS to go to work, can only miss 2 days/not 2 weeks.

America isn’t a socialized country. We have neither the infrastructure in place, nor the common consent, to take care of people in times of crisis. So it’s a clusterf*ck as people are afraid of losing everything... their jobs, healthcare, homes, ability to feed themselves & their kids... and as such? Have been continuing to go to work enmasse. To the point the govt. has been having to enforce shutdowns of private & govt. run businesses... and then half assed follow up with halting evictions/ halt power&water shutoffs/ astronomical % increases on credit cards, etc. But still people believe they have “no choice” but to go to work.

I am going to say this one last time. I AM NOT SICK!

I got what I wouldn't even consider a sore throat in normal situations and PANICKED.

IT WENT AWAY AND I HAVE NOTHING, AT ALL THAT WOULD BE SIGNS OF SICKNESS. NOTHING. NOTHING!!!!!

If you go back and read the post, I was prepared to call in the next day but didnt cause IT WENT AWAY.

I cannot prove to you that I am not sick but I do not appreciate being talked about to other members. I have now said it 4 times and another member ran with your very incorrect assumtion. STOP!

I VENTED!

You didn't like it, but that does not mean that rocks need to be thrown at me, incorrect assumptons made, and then those incorrect assumtions talked about to other members.

I keep my sup super informed about me. She knew about the sore throat and she knows it went away. SHE WOULD NOT LET ME WORK IF I WAS SICK.

I have chronic pain, I use a cane, and I take the long away around to ensure I am as far away from people as possible. Other speak face to face, I do not.

i guess this rest of this will be in bold as it wont unbold

I would appreciate it if you stop making incorrect assumptions and passing those around. Yes, they are allowing people to pack their work stations and take it home and work from home but I asked and I am not qualified to do that. What the f*ck else do you want me to do? I inquaried about the 3 weeks flex time. They will only give that to people with comfirmed Covid-19, or one that needs to take care of someone with confirmed Covid-19 or has child care needs due to child daycare not being open. None of those are me.

I got a slightly scratchy throat, from likely vapping too much, and came on here and panicked. It was gone not but hours later. No other signs of illness in anyway. And I am taking what others are saying are too many measures of santization. Not just at home but I go to work 30 mins early, unpaid, spend the first 20 sanizating my station, and spend 15 mins after work, unpaid, to sanitize again. I avoid people as much as humanly possible and I bleach everything I come in contact with.

FOR A NOT SICK PERSON. WHAT THE f*ck ELSE DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?

Yes, I have no choice but to go to work BECAUSE I AM NOT SICK! If I were, I have sick time. f*ck!

Eta: and am out for now.

I just spoke to a grocery delivery guy, he was happy about the quiet roads :D

Humph. Today I was saying how much traffic there is still. More traffic today than when we bought this house less than a decade ago.

We are on lock down too. I had to speak to the police about an issue and the person I spoke to said thousands in this county are ignoring the new rules and that domestic violence rates are rocketing :(

@lostforgottensoul you actually don't know if you were sick or not. People are experiencing mild symptoms like a mild cough or sore throat for a few hours. You really should play on the side of caution.

While well meant, I really think we should stop ganging up on @lostforgottensoul like this.

She's clearly taking all possible precautions bar from staying home and she explained she can't get sick leave when not showing symptoms, and neither can afford to take unpaid leave. She's doing everything she can do.

Show SOME compassion, ok?

Focus on those throwing "coronavirus parties". Also, keep in mind, there's probably HIGH numbers of asymptomatic cases.

I disagree. She has shown symptoms in the past two weeks. I'm not being uncompassionate. But she should stay at home from now. N pretending she shouldn't in the name of compassion makes no sense. She can do what what wants obviously. Just she should be aware that she's putting people at risk. N whatever, I don't care about the people around her, I just think that she might.

Yes, people may only show mild symptoms such as a sore throat for a few hours. You STILL can get so much as a sore throat from a gazillion things that are NOT COVID-19. Colds, allergies, ... didn't stop existing just because now we also have COVID-19. You can also be absolutely asymptomatic and still have COVID-19. Those people will continue to go to work/outside.

Should we err on the side of caution? Absolutely. That's why we have practical lockdowns in many places now. But some workers are considered "essential".

Where do you draw the line?

@lostforgottensoul's job is considered "essential". She's asymptomatic now. She has reasonable explanations where her sore throat could have stemmed from. She has no confirmed contact with anyone tested positive. She's taking all necessary precautions including avoiding physical interactions with anyone and disinfecting anything she comes into contact with. She cannot take sick leave because she's not sick and she cannot take unpaid leave.

Let's just stop bashing down on her, ok?

I draw the line at people with potential symptoms refusing to isolate cos they refuse to accept that mild symptoms might be due to Covid19. Like whatever, you guys can do whatever the hell you want and I do not care, but if I was you, id err on the side of caution, not the side of pride.

But again. I literally don't care. You can spread the virus all you want. Just stay in your country ?

@Chris-duck, if I called into work everytime I had a scratchy throat, I wouldn't have a job.

I am an ex keyboard huffing addict. For 3 years up to 16 cans a day.

I am an ex smoker and current vapper.

I just had my thyroid taken out diagnosed with papaliry thyroid cancer (stage still being determined). In Oct.

I get scratchy throat about once a week. If not more.

If you call me uncaring because I panicked due to one because we have a pandemic that has never happened in my lifetime before, that went away within hours (per usual) and zero additional signs of sickness, and boss and company fully aware and would not let me work sick without a pandemic let alone with a pandemic, then so be it.

ETA: I think 3 people throwing rocks at one because of someone's incorrect assumption is uncaring. No one thought I was sick until @Friday said that I was. That scratchy throat and panic was like a week ago. Intresting that 2 other people take one person's word for something when none of you even know me!

I explained it 5 different ways. Im done. Call me all the names you want.

You have internet though don't you? You can all work from home because of that, though, can't you. You're welcome!

Again.. everyone on this website is privileged.. access to internet n therefore access to food mid pandemic.

I'm aware of your medical history LFS, which actually doesn't change anything. I'd still say err on the side of caution. I don't take back anything I have said. Going to work.while experiencing symptoms is selfish. I don't apologise.
