Good point. We are nearly cashless in Australia, but this has gone that extra step, with places refusing cash and advice is to not use cash at all. Use CC at all times, basically.

@siniang I am not trying to punish you, hurt you, cause you distress or anything else against you. The facts are that things are not adding up. You jumping to China's defence when the evidence clearly does not support that, and blaming your country leader, is just not what the facts are showing. I'm not saying your country's leader isn't making mistakes... they all are IMO, some may more than others, but things are not right.

How does China with a population exceeding 1 billion, a population with immense poverty compared to other Western countries, contain the virus with so few deaths when other countries following suit cannot? Lets not confuse countries where they had even more time to prepare and action things. Australia is one of those, in essence, compared to Northern countries. Being so far from the rest of the world is the only thing that has kept our numbers low, and now slowing as a result of measures which were absolutely implemented too late, but worked quickly nonetheless.

I think this entire thing will change the world forever, in that countries are going to have much stricter, faster, reactions to even the "public health emergency" warning that comes out of WHO. Countries will close borders entirely before getting close to pandemic status I reckon. Well... if they learnt anything from this, they will in the future.

I hope so too. Were this is headed is scary, especially with the media manipulating things through sensationalising the negatives and leaving out the consequences (which they save for later reporting as though they are innocent in causing them.)

If it did come down to military it would be nuclear. China has too many people to fight by attrition. Luckily I live 15 mile from one strategic target and 20 from another. I will just see a millisecond of bright light and be gone.

Are we seriously discussing nuclear attacks? Like.. why? Countries are fighting the exact same target. A virus. How would bombing random countries help?

Most countries are lying about their death toll.
I don't think so. You can't lie about such things in most countries, as there are too many checks and balances happening. Delayed? Most likely. Lie? Unlikely. Dictatorships can get away with it under forced rule. Other countries... not really.

In most countries if a health sector tried to keep something quiet, someone who tweet it, leak it to media - within hours, day at most, it would be public, with a whole bunch of pants kicking coming its way. Techology is good and bad, all at the same time, for this very thing.

I don't believe war will be the outcome, but more, most large manufacturing and associated businesses that use China for cheap labour, will move on, and China will be affected economically. It's actually already kind off started some time ago, as companies have been progressively pulling their business from China to other countries, such as Africa and India, as labour costs in China have become self defeating, and no longer the bargain they once were that got business moving into China to begin with.

China had only one thing the world wanted - cheap labour. They no longer have that, so the world is shifting away from them. China has economically declined for a while now, from its sharp upwards curve.

All countries go through this, sure, but when a countries only resource is its people, and they are no longer a viable resource, there is one way - down.

Speaking of nations with leaders screwing up responses to covid 19... They are just going to shoot people dead in the Philippines?!
Yer, seen that yesterday. There are more now... a few are taking such approaches for anyone who refuses to follow orders and stay isolated. Makes you feel pretty lucky about now living in any country where you aren't shot for going outside or being a nuisance.

I have read some pieces on martial law being a more likely option in many countries, without the martial shooting aspect, due to what the financial collapse will bring. Back to the old days - arrested if caught stealing - no longer just a slap on the wrist type stuff. Strict punishment for minor offences may be coming depending on just how bad the collapse is in each country respectively.
