From Sensible to Illogical: How Are Other's Around You Changing in this Pandemic?

I try and remember that conspiracy theories / paranoia / blame games are usually nothing more than super boring self-defense mechanisms... attempting to control the uncontrollable. To find patterns in the static. Giving people the illusion of control over what they’re afraid of.

Mostly? Because scared people piss me off. ;) It’s just like, oh for f*cks sake. We get it. You’re scaaaaaaaawed. and want your woobie to fweel safe. So, rather than deal with the fact that things are dangerous, right now, you’re going to wrap yourself up make believe, or stomp your feet and blame other people, as if doing so will make beeeeeeg baaaaaad scawy thing go away.:banghead:

Fear. So gross. So predictable.

Slight correction here.

The bawling kid at the top of the slide? Who keeps starting to go down, then freaks out, starts to go and freaks out? Over and over and over and over and over? I LOVE that kid. Bravest kid on the playground. Utterly consumed by fear, pissing themselves with it, and still they keep facing the slide. Until they get to the bottom of it and collapse in a puddle of tears and exhaustion. Only to do it all over again.

The person who has just gone ghost white, slicked in sweat, hands shaking, voice breaking, who locks eyes wih you and says “Tell me what to do.” ? I LOVE that person.

And countless other examples.

Everyone gets afraid, sometimes. Fear is a part of life. It’s what one does with it, that matters.

It’s the “When in danger, or in doubt? Run in circles, scream & shout.” morons that piss me off.

@Friday , this is right on...and your delivery....so very amusing! Made me laugh.....

Today, I got "shamed on" from one of my rule following friends. So the governor put out a stay at home order....It said "I could drive to relax." So every Thurs I drive a couple hrs. to the coast to relax where walking on the beach is allowed....of course at a safe distance. I do car photography, have a meal alone-take a cooler, and get fresh air and sunshine....with no one else around.....and I got shamed on for leaving home. I'm not one of those people who goes to Walmart, and rarely to the grocery store...like once every 5 weeks. The rules clearly said, we could drive to relax...I just go a couple of hrs to a pretty place. Helps me stay balanced....gets my exercise....get an isolated walk in.....shame on them for shaming on me! She admits going to Walmart in the midst of a bunch of people.

Most if the illogical people, that I've noticed, as I am a social isolated, by choice, before this latest mass hysteria started, were illogical before this thing started. One thing they do, that strikes me as illogical, is take the word of newscasters and (so called) journalists who were already seen to be dishonest, and they (the illogicals) ignore that and keep listening to the lying conspiracy theorists who were already shown to be completely biased, invested, and who put forward stories that don't add up.
I mean, we know that the WHO and the CCP (Chinese communist party) gave wrong and misinformation, from the onset, and because of that, the world didn't take adequate precautions and this thing spread and spread. I mean Nancy Pelosi was telling people "Come to China town! Trump's a racist!" ( remember he stopped flights from China?) and my own country had a bunch of on- the-ball medical peeps jump on the hydroxychloroquine early on, and roll it out in hospitals, note; we have really low death rates, coincidence? You decide. But the media ignore that, for the most part. They seem to want to keep the fear and panic sky high, despite the fact that anxiety causes levels of cortisol to rise, which lowers our immune system function. Fear also highjacks our frontal lobe functioning, which is REALLY evident, in many, MANY people, right now.
So, also, now we know, (those who investigate not just unthinkingly let themselves be panicked and fear-primal brain run) that the death toll of, strictly COVID19 is around %.1, as medical people are coming forward and letting us know that many, many people are being put down on the death certificate, as having died of the virus, when, in actuality, it was a co-morbidity, or what they were already ill with, which, actually killed them, many of them old, the same type of old, frail people who die of the flu every year, and the whole world's economy doesn't shut down.

In fact Taiwan, DIDN'T shut down their economy, and had FAR lower death rates, but they used scrupulous disinfecting and masks, and, when you think about it, how many people are dying because ALL preventative medicine has been shut down? How many are dying of heart attacks, in their homes, because they are scared to go to the hospitals? I've heard of hospitals treating EVERYONE who comes in as having the virus, unless proven otherwise. Huh? Since when is medicine practised like that?

But, hey, I'm just a crazy conspiracy theorist, right? What would I know. I just, actually, investigate and not just take what six-company-owned-corporate-media tells people. I mean, they tell the truth right? Remember "Russian collusion"? Hmmm that wasn't a conspiracy theory, was it? Um, yeah, it was. John Durham is getting the the bottom of that, as we speak.

So, who peddles "conspiracy theories"? Oh, but the media's telling the truth, now, aren't they? Yeah, China style "truth" but knock yourselves out, if you love the CCP, the WHO, and their cohorts (supportive media outlets), believe those media outlets, at your own peril.

Shrug.

Might also be which media you choose, too.

Say investigative journalists or humanitarian efforts / NGOs affiliated lists don't feed into that kind of frenzy that heavily.

And they're not really 'alternative' media... merely reporting with more interest in facts and actual being informed of the society efforts.

So I wouldn't malign even the journalists... because soooo many examples of damned *good* journalism, out there.

And?
The press is needed. As an institution.
It's the efforts to supress it as a whole that are a profound problem.

Tldr media talking shit is still less problems than media ordered to talk shit or ordered not to talk at all, or worse.

More worried about countries with few news out... than those flooding us with pop nonsense & political slash corona newest scandals du jour.

//

And no, Mums.
Treating everyone as presumed positive for the newest bug IS good medicine.

For multiple reasons.

It means safeguarding life & health of everyone involved and not risking the whole facility.

The -opposite- of what you seem to take it for, being judgmental or uncaring or lax or something.

It treats everyone to the standards of care *as rating the care.*

Ie. As providing the highest level of care and attention to *everyone.* incoming.

A *good* thing.
Good baseline to start from.

NOT assuming people positive means not giving a f*ck.
Assuming they got it means caring for lives solid.

At first, my weekly helper from the department of Social services followed the rules when bringing me supplies. They were not supposed to enter my place when delivering supplies. Now? They come in without hesitation.

I was recently out of the country (January) when apparently things were dicey in China but there was not much of news about the virus. Then all of sudden in February everybody is talking about it...and by mid March we were lockdown and working from home since.
So what changed. IMHO, the american news (unless you dig for it) is not news, it is sensational or entertainment of the likes of the lord of the flies sort of....just aiming not for the frontal cortex but for the instinct/impulse amygdala. So I try not to watch too much of it.
When I am brave, I watch BBC, France 24, or Al Jazeera to see how the world is reacting to this...and the world is reacting sensibly and everybody is doing what they usually do (to a point provided what is going on in any given time) but concerned and with caution.

My husband and I have been cocooned for a bit over a month now. I do not police anyone but I know couple friends that are being irresponsible by that I mean they cannot go to the office but they can go out and party. To me, I go to the park with my dog as I did before but now with a renewed vigor and love cause it is my only time out.
I am deeply saddened by those that are losing money in this. I saw my pedicure lady the other day walking her dog and she looked so sad and asked me how I was feeling and I said I am OK as I work from home and she was like ooh good but I could feel and see she is breaking down. She had this business for 17 yrs and it may not come back or take a long time to reach. So being inside is a real threat to some but it did not change my personality.

I would say the only thing I am resistant is to meeting on zoom with friends unless we are playing games. I aint meeting on zoom having wine and talk. I do not have that much to talk about it. but maybe that is my little antisocial unless there is a purpose kicking in.

long blahhh but that is what Covid19 does....

Well... I just read where covid-19 is going to last through August and December of this year. I would hope the CDC would get a leg up on the vaccination by then. I fully give them my approval to take 3 months off the standard year process they usually go through. If I hadn't said it, already, 2020 sucks. I haven't got my stimulus check and JACK has been done about my small business ( loan or payment) so.. I'm changing to BROKE in this pandemic, because of this pandemic.

I also overheard from reliable sources (business meeting) in Europe that no sight of going back to the office until at least another month! when I heard that I felt the govt is not telling us all the information about this pandemic. I am not big on conspiracy theories though they are fun...but now there is some information I read "here and there" that COVID 19 affects the immune system which is apparently easier to deal with than just typical flu like symptoms or make vaccination for...but here we are!

Brace for humanity!
