Just finished Wintering and now I'm reading Falling, by TJ Newman. I decided not to do a challenge this year and try to make it through the books I bought last year. HAHAHA Not going to happen--I buy books like all of them are being banned tomorrow. I vowed not to buy any this year and already I have 3 new ones. But...I'm going to read only what I actually want to and what interests me in the moment.

now I'm reading Falling, by TJ Newman

Oops. Not Falling. Drowning, by the same author. Same basic idea, though. Plane runs into trouble and crashes. All three of this author's books are about airline disasters, which for some reason I enjoy reading. They are good, quick reads.

 

[Lost in the Woods]

I spent some time this morning sitting in the Jacuzzi sipping coffee and reading Hard Crowd, a collection of essays by Rachel Kushner. It is pretty good, I am new to her and I will purchase her other books. I love finding new to me authors. Perhaps this is why I love cruising well curated independent bookstores, I find things I didn’t know existed and they take me to a whole new worlds I didn’t know existed. I stumbled across this author in a motorcycle blog of all places.

As someone who enjoys post apocalyptic fiction, I think I totally understand that.

I am currently reading The Bartender’s Tale by Ivan Doing. It is pretty good. A friend recommended it to me and she is a big fan of the author. I think he is good but not over the top good. It is a tale of a father son relationship told by the son looking back. As someone who comes from a really screwed up family it all seems a bit fairy tale like. Where is the abuse and humiliation? Isn’t that part of every family?
