Sufferer practicing self expression in a safe space.

Welcome to the forum - glad you found us. Hope this place helps you find your voice ☺️

Be aware - while this forum can feel very safe in a lot of ways, it’s not ‘a safe space’ in the way that (for example) your therapist’s office may be a safe space. In addition to be an anonymous forum on the internet (all sorts of safety issues), you will find some of the content confronting, unhelpful, sometimes disturbing or distressing…you can read about the community vibe in the Community Constitution.

But definitely still very helpful, and a great space to speak your own voice.

"practicing self-expression" is an essential body of recovery tools in my own recovery. the slice of that body i practice inside my therapy support network -both live and virtual- is trust and sharing. expressing myself in the privacy of my notebooks and art studio is quite important. the trust it takes to share is a huge nut, all by itself. it takes allot for me to be able to share, even within the anonymity of virtual reality.

Hi Arfie, thank you for your response. I have been practicing but I also have been very stuck with a paralyzing perfectionism that I suspect developed in response to my older sister's bullying and my mother's lack of interest.

Hi Sideways, thank you for your response. I'm in other peer support groups and have some experience with peers being very broken and having learned unhealthy ways of interacting. I have studied toxic behavior for many years and can often spot it early so I don't get triggered. I do have a lot of anger. I've been working on expressing that anger in healthy and productive ways. I appreciate you looking out for me and my experience in this forum.
