Our Pets

a Pet thread, just what I needed. My 4.5 yr Belgian Malinois is my bestest friend in the world. I train and sell dogs for police work so when D was 18 mos and ready I sold him. Silly boy refused to play fetch at all (which is key) even though he's a bonafide fetch addict. After 2.5 wks, the other trainer and I deducted that D could hold his breath forever so I went to get him. He fetched a blade of grass on the spot for me right in front of everyone! hahaha So the general consensus was that D was in love with me :) I also have a ferret, Dirka Dirka Dirka, (yes you have to say it three times :) I think that D thinks that DDD is his pet! They are everything to me. I don't know what I'd do without them.

They are both so cute together, don't know much about ferrets but dogs are so empathic to our moods, I had cats at one stage. Cats have the reputation of being aloof, mine weren't.

You are lucky to have them and they are equally lucky to have you

OH!
I'm super stoked I stumbled across this thread :roflmao:

My cats name is sugar; I named him before I knew he was a boy. Sometimes I call him chicken and he tends to respond more to chicken then sugar -____- I rescued him in august and I cannot describe the love I have for my cat. As terribly odd as it sounds I see a lot of myself in him. It took a long time to get him to trust that the place he was now in was safe. My niece found him and his brother; starving in a box at a flee market. The women didn't want them so she sold them to us for 5 dollars. It gives me palpations thinking about what would have happened to my lovelies if my niece didn't stumble across them.
I miss him every day. When I’m sad, my mom texts me photos of him doing something silly- which in turn makes me cry but simultaneously happy. :)

Yes, our animals mean the world to us. I have dogs (photos above). It is understandable that you miss him. He is a v pretty boy :). Thank goodness for technology.

It was funny today, I was sat in the garden. max was 'hiding' behind a plant pot, waitin to ambush and when Saffi came past he leapt out at her, grabbed her collar and dragged her across the patio.

HAHA!

My cats tussle like this all the time. My cat Franklin is a little ninja. He's all black so you never really see him unless his eyes are wide open; which isn't often. The other day my mom told me while sugar was hanging off the couch; Franklin would stick his paw out- slapping sugar in the face. Which prefaced a paws fight to end all kitty paw slapping fightings, lol. And this is how they act pre catnip.

WeI have three dogs, two chihuahua's that are actually my kid's dogs. My dog is a german shepherd rottweiler mix. He talks, well actually he grunts but I love it when he talks to me. He is also very protective and sleeps in the hallway between my children's doorways, he protects them for me.

We also have two large boa constrictors. They had babies a couple of years ago, I kept one but she died. RIP little Molly.

We also had Dave who we were all very close too but he passed away a few years back as well. We still miss him. He was a min pin dachsund mix. Dave and Seamus (my german shepherd) would comfort us when we were sad after the daddies died.

My son also has a gerbil.

Excellent feel good thread!

My dog came to me with pretty good timing. About a year into Complex PTSD. I would get stuck in horrific night terrors and scream all night long I was told. Amazing that I could sleep through that, so weird think back on that.

My dog was a gift puppy, a black Schnauzer. At night when he slept next to me, every time I had a night terror, screaming and yelling out, he never got scared. He would lay is little body across my tummy and gently squeeze...eventually he was the one with the key to unlock me from those trapped night terrors.

He never leaves my side. He has the most hilarious playful personality...a lot like me. He also loves music. He loves me and food! When I get drepressed he cheers me up with his happy ways. What a joy.

Animals are so cool and instinctual. My friend with severe diabetes has a dog that wakes her up when her blood sugar is too low by licking her face.

My daughter's father (who passed away the year before my husband) had a cat that moved in with my mom, I'm allergic to cats. But the morning my husband passed away the cat was tearing through the house, just going crazy. Later we figured out it was at the same time that my husband was dying.
