I was diagnosed with ADHD in grade 2. Never been quite sure if that was already due to having PTSD (not diagnosed then) and always getting in fights and disrupting the class, though I had really good marks, it could have been just boredom too. I think at the time also schools were quick to diagnose ADHD so they could get more govt funding.

The diagnosis has stayed with me though and remains on my file.

I just have regular old PTSD and I'm pretty sure I don't have ADHD, though I haven't been tested. My fiance, however, is diagnosed PTSD and ADHD. When they put him on the Adderall the difference it made was HUGE!

Ok for those that answered yes. A couple questions If I may...

Are you on a med regiment for either or both diagnosis?
Me, Not yet but finally med regiment should start this week:cautious:. of course this will coincide with therapy and other coping strategies

Please share your successes and/or learned failures in regards to how you try to handle both of these combined diagnosis (I really do not call them failures they are life's experiences) That would be great. (Here or in a private message is fine)

Does your ADHD symptoms get worse during times PTSD symptoms lets say flair up?
I believe mine does.... Nights I don't sleep well... forget it (many because of re occurring nightmares a year later), Days were I have triggers of event. That is the worst, I never stuttered or had speech issues. My talking believe it or not was a coping skill I used for short term memory issues from ADD. Now I still have memory issues (worse than ever) and I have caught myself stuttering and family has noticed it as well. Famous line from me now is "Sorry I lost my train of thought" during conversations... (Except if you ask me about the blue handled knife. I cannot forget nor get that visual out of my head and when I start remembering the event I actually can feel the intense energy and strength i had to exert during the struggle and fight for survival as the knife was inches away from my throat:eek:) . Nice right :(

I've been told I have ADD, though I think we all do these days. It's hard not to have an attention deficit disorder when the world around us is so full of distractions and things bombarding us from all angles, too much information clogging up our brains. No wonder people find it hard to concentrate!

I don't really believe the diagnosis I received in regards to ADD, or the other 3 which I'd never even heard of before. I think there are many mental health care proffessionals who hand out false diagnoses, and it happens all the time. I guess it could be true for me, but I just think it's a normal outcome of living in the modern world, so I don't think of it as a disorder.

I didn't vote either way as I'm not sure? I think I would be leaning more towards no though.
