Can I Get Some Input?

Hi everyone. So I have this medium/ reiki master who is kind of like a maternal figure. I am pretty attached to her. I sent her an email 2 weeks ago and she never wrote me back. I sent her an email 6 days ago asking if she received my email. No response. My therapist said I should call her. What's everyone think? She's shown me a lot of kindness and I like being around her. I'm just embarrassed to call her.

I'd call her. Do be careful not to guilt trip her about not responding to your email...maybe she has some things going on right now that she isn't sharing with you or others, and needs space. You could just say, "Hi! I was hoping to catch up with you soon," and not even mention the emails.

Hi, I recently got upset when someone didn't respond to what was to me a very important email. Then it happened a second time so I mentioned it to the person over the phone and they'd never received either email which explained the lack of response. There can be so many reasons people don't reply to things including not getting them or being busy etc. So yes, might be a good idea to phone and catch up :) Hope it works out well for you.

Okay. I finally called just now. Went to voicemail, so I left a message. So if she doesn't respond to that, then she hates me.

Good for you for calling :) I would think that if she doesn't return the call it's not because she hates you, but because she needs space. My own failure to reply to an email, return a phone call, or whatever doesn't mean I hate that person. Whenever I find myself getting anxious over a similar situation, I try to remember just how much space *I* need (an awful lot, whether PTSD/isolating or not), and how many times I've delayed or failed to reply to others, and give them the same courtesy.
