I don't watch the news much as I find it to be quite depressing. However, my wife told me about an article she read in which a woman went into a Wal-mart on Black Friday and pepper sprayed 20 people in order for her to obtain access to some x-box video games that were on sale.
As she read me the article, I couldn't help but to think of what those people were going through.
One of the exercises that I was required to go through during my last deployment to Iraq, was to be sprayed in the face with military grade pepper spray and then go through a combatives course while under the inhibitions of this substance.
The combatives course is made up of four different attackers with different scenarios for each part of the course. The purpose of the exercise is to show the Soldier that he/she can still fight under the deployment of this device. It builds confidence in oneself and eventually assures the Soldier that he/she will survive the experience.
I was told by the instructors of this course that I performed surprisingly well and was even offered an oppurtunity to teach the course if I was interested. I declined their offer, as I had other demons I had to worry about at that time.
This woman, whom I understand later turned herself into police, is currently not being identified because of potential threats to her safety. Notice, I said threats to HER safety. In my opinion, this woman doesn't deserve any safety after what she did. She deliberately caused harm to others in order to feed her greed.
I couldn't help but to think of what I would have done if I were there as one of the victims. I think my initial reaction would be to cause the maximum amount of damage to this woman as humanly possible.
I just don't understand what the hell is wrong with people these days.....
