Hi all, thanks for this quite interesting topic!

My first internet date a couple of years back had lied about being a non smoker, this after I had just given up! Anyway that was not so hectic but arg, it is really difficult to find somebody honest and decent on a dating website.

After a year or two after that I paid for a year subs on a different dating website and only after 7 months, last night in fact, did I through pure luck meet up with what appears to be a really decent understanding woman. I had not met anyone in person through this website which I had paid for as yet and had begun to lose all faith and hope to actually find a compatible mate in my life. I had had no real reason to live until now, well, now I have, I just hope it doesn't go badly pear shaped ...

Right now I hope it was not just a night of pleasant conversation, and no, I am not just interested in sex like most males do, thanks to my life's experiences. At 40 now, I can wait a bit longer to find out if this relationship will end up being as successful as I hope it to be.

Thanks to all the contributors to this topic, my opinion is that for a woman to meet a guy via these dating websites is quite dangerous and daunting but last night we both took a huge risk and just maybe it will pay off. I feel quite good for a change as my history of relationships have been very few and far between and not healthy ones at that.

I'm married, but we've been saving to buy a house so we don't often go out on "dates." Hubby's mom gave us both 50.00 for Christmas to spend on whatever we wanted as long as it wasn't bills. You would think it was a million dollars!

A couple weeks after Christmas he called me and said "Tomorrow night, I want to take you out. That is what I want to do with my Christmas money." I thought it was absolutely the sweetest thing, because I was putting my christmas money in the "I want my own gun fund." The next day we spent time with some friends and after I got nicely dressed and took extra time on my make-up and hair. When I came downstairs hubby says "You look awfully nice to stay in and watch the ball game" He FORGOT he was going to take me on a date!

Needless to say, I still give him a hard time about that. My own husband didn't just stand me up, he forget he asked at all!
