In a Balkan country mending from war, Natalia, a young doctor, is compelled to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding her beloved grandfather’s recent death. Searching for clues, she turns to his worn copy of The Jungle Book and the stories he told her of his encounters over the years with “the deathless man.” But most extraordinary of all is the story her grandfather never told her—the legend of the tiger’s wife.

Book Club begins this book, February 20th, 2012.

If you would like to participate, then grab your copy and prepare to become engrossed with other members all-round the world, as The Tiger's Wife is collectively read and discussed in unison, adding to the interpretation and meanings united to become a developing discussion.

Additional time has been added pending the start of book club, allowing everyone to obtain their copies prior to Feb 20, as well as allow all participants who choose such, to then obtain the next book in line.

Discussion Rate

Discussion begins from 22nd Feb, 2012, at a rate of one chapter introduced to discussion every 48hrs.

When you choose to participate in discussion is up to you, ie. every 2 days, 4 days, week or end of the book. We set a minimum, every person then sets their own time at which they will read and respond in the discussion.

My Tiger's Wife consists 13 chapters, at approximately 25 pages per 48hrs with discussion of each chapter.

I have ordered it tonight. Hope it reaches our remote area in time. Looking forward to reading it.

Will get it on my Kindle when I get home from my vacation! Looking forward to this. Already have the Hunger Games trilogy waiting for me at home.

We can start of slow if need be. I am in the same boat... mine may not arrive until a day or two after this date, as it seems Amazon is backed up on some books with delivery, and these are all best sellers that have been chosen, even the "The Alchemist" is a best seller book.

We can always catchup if the start is slowed, then it picks up pace.

The whole idea about this is to not cause anyone stress... we set reasonable boundaries for reading, if others choose to read the whole book now before it begins, then so be it... but we all discuss it at an agreed upon rate, so nobody is being stressed due to reading a book.

Others may read the book after the discussion, and raise it again... the beauty of the web is that it doesn't close and anyone can participate in any book at any time.

Ordered my book on Amazon UK, its being dispatched tomorrow.

Looking forward the challenge!

Might be less confusing and have more to discuss per deadline if we expand this book to 2 chapters per session, not changing the pace just the rate at which we can discuss, So approx. 50 pages every 4 days. Same result really but we will have more to talk about... This rule would have to be tailored to each book, because of varying numbers of pages per chapter. It might actually make more sense to expand this idea further for this book to 3 or 4 chapters, that way the discussions will be a lot more in depth and we can talk about more in general because of the available content we have read.. Although I believe that more and more depth and available content to choose from will develop as we read so eventually the rate won't really matter...

We also should consider that perhaps the discussion rate does not have to be set to equal fractions (chapters) all through the process. Perhaps the first chapter could be discussed after 2 days, people will likely discuss their first impressions and expectations of the whole book, also discussing the events and setting. Then set the tone for the rest of the discussion rate at 2 or 4 chapters per discussion, but without changing the rate of speed we would have to read the book at. We would have adequate material to discuss I believe this way. This might have to be done anyway with a few of those books that have a more varied number of pages per chapter.

Also as a second thought or idea, if somebody has read the book already, we could have that person set the pace. This will ideally be based on the events that occur in the book, it could be used to build a suspense aspect to our discussions. Of course, they would have to abide by the accepted rate at which we need to read to keep current with the discussions as they unfold.

I updated the initial post:

When you choose to participate in discussion is up to you, ie. every 2 days, 4 days, week or end of the book. We set a minimum, every person then sets their own time at which they will read and respond in the discussion.

Whilst you have lots of valid points Gamer, you are also complicating the simplicity of reading and entering into a discussion about the book. As the above states, we set a minimum pace for discussion... everyone then chooses their own pace at which they read here and respond, to discuss when they feel ready, as long as it's not before the above basis.

This leaves reading and responding open to ever person uniquely... as individuals.
