Hi and welcome Jenner

I can relate. You are not alone. lots of good help here. Keep on writing and telling your story and get it out of you. I still get jeoulous of people who have supportive families. I had to break off contact with mine. It was hard but sanity of mind is very important to me. It sounds like you are realy independent. You have worked hard on yourselfr. Congratulations on the sobriety. I have 3 years of sobriety and my life is alot more calm and no more drama. This has made a huge difference. Take care of you.

Gizmo, I feel the same way. I get jealous at times too when I see people with supportive families. I broke of contact with my parents 3 years ago. My best friend criticizes me and tells me that they are not getting any younger....etc But my health and well being is more important. If I don't look out for myself, who will? I am still in touch with my sister but she is currently fighting issues herself. I try to be supportive but it's not easy since we both have problems due to our childhood (my mom). I am independant to a certain extent. There are things I just cannot seem to get a handle on but I am getting help for that. I wish I had a supportive partner but my dog is all I have. He gives me sooo much love and is my little angel. Congratulations on your sobriety too! I know it's hard to quit but something we have to pad ourselves on the back for. I used to have blackouts that scared the hell out of me. Feeling better without it! Take care of yourself

Hi Jenner and welcome to the forum.

I to can relate to your story, which is a lot similar to mine. I'm currently living in Holland, well till the end of the year anyway. You will find help and support on this forum from many people who have lived through childhood abuse and understand what you are going through. I wish you all the best and it's nice to have you here. :)
