My PTSD I think is pretty bad. It's not going away. I think about the trauma whenever I'm driving to a from work; every day, many times. I cry a lot, there are plenty of symptoms.

I'm extremely tense during the day. It feels like my whole body is tied in a knot.

Sometimes I'll have one glass of wine at night. Can't have more because then I'll get sick and throw up, whether I ate or not. A glass relaxes me.

I find myself craving my glass of wine every night now.

Where do I cross the line?

Hi Nadege, I suppose the question is 'how big is the glass'?

In England, about 14 units of alcohol is the recommended limit. If you are having a 200ml glass each night you should be OK. If you are concerned though, maybe try for one or 2 alcohol free nights each week. On those nights maybe try fooling yourself by drinking grape, cranberry or blueberry juice out of a wine glass.

I stopped drinking becasue I was turning into a alcoholic.

But I agree with KP, the juice idea is great if you are concerned. And I honestly would be, because starting to feel "cravings" for it, is sometimes a bad thing. You do not want to became dependent on it. That can easily get out of control.

I would agree that it is not the amount of alcohol per se at this stage that may be of concern, but rather the fact that you may be becoming dependent on having it. Now is the perfect time to intervene and take control if you are concerned, and the suggestions above are good ones. Experiment until you find a juice or non-alcoholic drink that you really like and which you only drink at the times when you would ordinarily drink wine. That way, you can work to attach that sort of significance or reward symbolism to the new drink that you may currently feel for the alcohol.

Good for you for having the self awareness to intervene now and deal with a problem that is as yet very manageable.

I think alcohol tolerance really depends on the individual--even for women it is different from person to person. I've heard somewhere that drinking a little bit of red wine every day is actually healthy, but that's like--maybe 1/5 or a glass? And of course it depends on your health and medical history and such. I don't remember but it's definitely less than a glass. So not more than a glass and maybe much less than that might be fine. Also I agree with other posters that it's probably a bad idea to build dependency. Jasmine tea is a great idea! I actually find that alcohol doesn't work in the long wrong because it's usually a depressant and you might end up with hangovers that feel like hell. It also doesn't solve the underlying problem and you won't learn proper ways to deal with your experience that way. I know it's hard and we've all been there, but it's best to try to stick to therapy and other professional help for your PTSD. Good luck!

I guess I forgot to mention that I mix it with ambien and benadryl pills... Those knock me out well and I don't see dreams.

I don't go to therapy. I don't want to tell anyone. My pain is here inside me, it's not going anywhere. But I can put it to sleep...

I will be frank...

Ambien is habit forming, and not a long term solution to your insomnia. This is something your doctor should have warned you about. I assume you do not want to add being addicted to ambien as one of the many things you are all ready have to deal with. So be careful with that.

Mixing ambien and alcohol is a very bad idea. It clearly says in the Rx information not do that. And for good reason! This can actually make your depression worse and can impair your judgement.

I understand that going to therapy is a hard thing to do. I know what it feels like to just wish it will all go away. You do have a support group here on this forum though. We can help in some way I am sure, but you also have to be willing to work hard towards recovery.

Hang in there.

One glass? Lady? oh my...

Well one glass is nothing. In fact I am sure I read somewhere that red wine is actually very healthy for you. I would not worry unless you feel the need to get drunk every evening or need alcohol in the morning to get you through the day. Then the alarm bells are ringing.

I hate this stupid society and lady shit. It makes me sick. I drink beer myself lol :P

Hi everyone already said it all. If you need it then you have the beginning of a problem, but I don't see how 1 glass of wine a day can hurt you. Combining it with pills is not a good idea. You know the best way to take care of yourself. I am glad you could be honest about it. I hope for the day that you will get back into therapy with a therapist that is a good match for you. You have alot going on inside and it will come out one way or the other. take care and be well.
