Just got the news that a family friend lost their home to the storm.

I am sorry for their unimaginable loss.

My area has not been terrorized by the storm!

Yeah, that is good news!

I think she may be OK Nicolette. I heard a short news report of that area last night and the tidal surge had not broken through the defenses.

Maybe power down, but nothing like what further down the coast has suffered.

Like you have been wondering if they are OK all day too.

Makes you wonder what they may have been thinking when they developed the outer banks... the storm was a Cat 1 but came in at high tide. We've had and built to Cat 3 and 4 around here. Very sad for the loss of life. Checking on two of my online friends in the area this evening. One may not have power yet though.

We Brits complain about the weather so much but we don't get storms like that - very frightening.

Things are rapidly returning to normal up here in Massachusetts. I am so relieved my nephew and family were fine in VA. Listening to the sound of the wind going through the trees behind my house and the sound of trees breaking (over the roar of the wind) was unnerving. But somehow we were spared the worst of the storm! My heart goes out to those south of here and those closer to the coasts. So many will be in recovery for a long while. Prayers for those who lost family, friends, property or homes.

My friend is fine as I've seen her post photos on Facebook....... phew :D

I have one friend who lives in US and his city I think shown in sandy affected regions. I saw facebook posts from him and hope he and his family is all fine. Now waiting to get message from him.

I was shocked to see Sandy did so much damage to some parts of US. I wish them speedy recovery and may receive quick help in such crucial time.

Oh no, My one friend is NY. She went there for study. We weren't in touch since starting of this month. She rarely logs in Facebook. I have sent email to her, now I hope she replies me and lets me know she is safe there. I am worried for this friend. Please send safety vibes for this friend.
