Book Club Chit Chat Thread

Ooh, I've just seen Anthony has the next book thread ready and waiting for the 1st Jan.

I have the book ready in my Kindle wish list, it will appear as if by magic.

I think it must be my age, but all this instant stuff is like magic - hell, I was brought up with log tables and slide rules and silence in libraries :whistling:

I don't think I will get to read that one, as I will be away for the first half of Jan, then I have a lot on for the rest of it. I will pickup again in Feb... as this months book sucked big time, we need a few action type books, no more non-fiction or life of / trauma type. Romance, action, political thriller, suspense, something like that is way better.

A lady I work with told me about some e-books on Amazon. They are short stories by Hugh Howey. She said they are about 50ish pages a piece. For those that have trouble reading longer books, it could be a good start. She just finished Wool and said it was a great read.

Got my Kindle! :)
Downloaded lots of free books! (Downloaded Rescue, too.) :)

In one of them, 'Through the Magic Door' by Arthur Conan Doyle, it says:

"I care not how humble your bookshelf may be, nor how lowly the room which it adorns. Close the door of that room behind you, shut off with it all the cares of the outer world, plunge back into the soothing company of the great dead, and then you are through the magic portal into that fair land whither worry and vexation can follow you no more."

Wow, that so describes how I feel when I retreat to my reading corner and leave this place through the magic door...

Wow, thanks PO. What a wonderful quote. It describes what I feel about reading perfectly.
