Looking For Gift Ideas

The cozy cow is the cutest heat-pack I've ever seen, great find! Read some reviews of slippers like that, people seem to really like them. I'm big on giving snacks and treats as gifts, not sure if that's an appropriate gift for your friend though... perhaps some nice tea?

A no-sew fleece tied blanket is always a cute gift. They are very warm, you can pick the material to fit the person's personality (maybe a cute cow print on one side and a favorite color on the other), and they have that caring, "homemade" aspect. They are really a cinch to make... I cannot sew a button, but I managed to make these for Christmas gifts this year. They turn out way cuter than you think you would! :) Wikihow has directions, but I'm new, so I can't post them yet.

Hi Nicolette,

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend.

When I found out my Mum had terminal cancer I forced myself to go into the hospital ward with my husband waiting outside. I burst into tears when I saw her and we hugged and hugged. She didn't cry a she was being strong for me at the time but it was a very precious moment and one of the only times she has ever hugged me.

However you keep in touch with her (visits, e-mail, letter, phone etc.) give her some quality time.

As for gifts, so many good ideas but I suppose it depends on what she likes. Cosy, comforting slippers/blankets etc are great. I like Debs ideas of nice stationary/journal but especially getting someone in to do a manicure/pedicure.

Whatever you choose I'm sure she'll love.

Thinking of you and sending you love. x

Thanks everyone for your time and input. I actually decided to send a 'comfort' based gift which arrived in 24 hours after I ordered it. My friend thought it was wonderful so I'm delighted. Here is a picture she sent me.

Moo cow heat bag to sleep with and heat bag slippers for her tired feet (both work as cold packs also).

The most priceless gift though will be just to be there as a friend without pity or sadness :)
I wholeheartedly agree Saffy but she is about a 10 hour drive away so the only way I can be there is phone and facebook at present. She has a loving family supporting her though so she's got them and know's I here if she needs me.

Maybe a cherry pit pillow with a nice soft exterior.
Had never heard of those before. KP mentions them too. Must look them up and it reminded me to go find my missing heat pack... hmmm

I'll be back........

That just as the blanket is something she can always have in her grasp, so is the love of family and friends.
I love the concept and meaning behind your idea ISH. I have known my friend's family for 20 years but her not so well so I went with what I do know being her nickname 'moo', her telling me about using heat packs and the idea that she can cuddle the warm moo cow and know she is loved.

Maybe something like a bigger scarf.
Like the symbolism but worried it might be interpreted as a 'cancer' gift and thinking it was to wrap her head in now that she still is facing chemo in an attempt to live longer. :O_o:

I'm big on giving snacks and treats as gifts,
Great idea but she's having trouble eating so wasn't sure about food.

so she really appreciated the warmth.
This was my intention with the gift... some warmth :)
