Facebook- Finally Free From It

I was watching one of those shows where they talk about how to spot a fake FB profile. One of the red flags supposedly? Less than 100 FB friends!! Whoa, what?? I do not WANT 100 friends, if I ever go back there.

I gave FB the good, old college try again, found yet more deliberately hurtful cr*p. It's more than crazy. Yes, I understand it's lovely for some purposes, properly done, FB is hugely valuable. It's also a dandy weapon. My sister and niece were doing things like tagging photos with names which were not in them, I suppose so they would end up in my photo stream, or my husband's and mother's. Honestly- HOW old are we? Anyway, little tough to engage me if I'm not there. WHO has that kind of time anyway?

People tag me in photos or inspirational things they would like me to see as well as a bunch of other people. I'm okay with that as long as it is not hurtful. So far, it has not been, thankfully.

Less than 100 FB friends!!

I have much less than 100 friends on FB and I like it that way. I only ever had one person post something yucky so I unfriended her

People who used to tag me and post whatever comes in their mouth, I have unfriend all of them. A relief.

Yes, You will have true friends and you can count on your one hand. I am satisfied with 20 people in my life. More than it, I think I will have to be careful with that. Recently I have started removing who are not good and no communication at all.

CraftyCath and Britt, do you both want to make me laugh again? That mindless fashion, I have got more friends and I am popular on Facebook. :roflmao:

I think there are people who have more than 1K people and really do care about true friend. They are sane and wise. They choose careful.

But serious no to them who are determined to keep people and never talk with them. So meaningless.

Anni, I don't think you need to watch such shows. Sometimes people are smart to use any information for misuse on FB.

You have to trust yourself and keep in touch. Real friends maintain touch and the quality and flow of the friendship. If you have fake friend, they will probably try something that won't help you at all.

I left FB about 11 months ago when I began a new relationship. I have to say, I don't miss it. I never had any drama, but I didn't like the new changes, it took so much of your privacy away. I do tweet, it's less personal.

I don't know how many friends I have on FB but I can guarantee it is no where near 100. I like instant messaging with it because I can use my computer and actually have conversations with friends. I know, I should call, but I'm not at that point yet. Some day.

Yes Finding Shawna, I don't miss those bad friends I removed. They stopped talking to me and I moved on from them.

FB privacy matters are bit of confusing. Agree with you on that.

What bothers me the most on facebook, as it does in email, is when people post false information/hoaxes as truth. They don't investigate it before passing it on. Drives me insane.

If I could block that I would. Instead I correct those things by posting links to the truth. I probably irritate people. Oh well.

I do the same (correct them). And those posts seem to be passed along by folks who should know better, i.e. people my age, lol!
