Sufferer Do I Have Options?

Hi hostagesoul, Welcome to the Forum!:)

Hi,

Thank you for writing me. I am non-judgemental in terms of religosity, yet I am extremely introverted. I think that a shelter, or hospital would literally break me. It is soooooooo hard for me to reach out!!!! It seems as though I am going to have to figure out how to step outside of my introversion. I am not sure I will be able to do this. Is it common for people with CPTSD to be introverted?

Hello.

It also sounds like one of the first things you may want to consider doing is getting some good legal advice or representation. Keep in mind that the period of time around when a woman gets the courage up to do something about a bad home situation is a good time for consciousness about her own safety.

Hi pumpkinpie

Thank you. I am actually quite broke so I am limited in terms of acquiring legal representation. I am actually afraid to leave because he is my only support. It's frusterating! I don't trust people so I am sort of stuck waiting for SSI to kick in, or some other miracle. Honestly, strangely, I am not concerned about my safety. I do not want to be here in this plane of existance, I simply continue on because, well, that's what we're supposed to do right? I am more concerned bout school and being homeless. I am happy to have some leads here!

I wonder, is it difficult for others with CPTSD to condsider the future or to try to work towards bettering the future?
While I am a supporter, having hung around here for a long time I would have to say that that is a Big Yes. It is difficult. And congratulations on reaching out! It is hard to do the first few times, but it gets easier.

One of the things a lot of people with PTSD do is self-isolate. Is that what you mean by "introversion?" Have you read Anthony's articles on PTSD yet? On the home page of this site at the bottom (keep scrolling!) there is a lot of really clear and solid information. If you haven't read it yet, take a look.

Sounds like you have a few phone calls to make to find out what some of your options are. Has your husband threatened you, or done anything to harm you? Or has he just gone missing from time to time?

Hi,

Thank you. It appears that I have a lot of reading to do! This is good, keeps me distracted!

My husband can be very cruel and very charming. He has physically hurt me a couple of times while drunk. Honestly, I am not worried about my safety. I basically have a death wish, I honestly feel that my soul is hostage. Tragic huh?

Self-isolation, perhaps... Extraversion and introverson are orientations that run along a continuum. Commonly, people are mostly extraverted, oriented outward. I am extremely introverted, oriented inward. I live in my mind, spending tons of time thinking rather that communicating. In fact, if I ever brave hanging out with people, I often feel very drained and I need to be alone for a while to recharge. Not sure how much of this can be attributed to CPTSD. I wonder...

Hostagesoul, The articles are not very long. After my first reading I felt the bricks falling off my shoulders!

It does take time and you are not alone. I think the comment on the header of the home page really explains where you have been. Connecting with others will help your progress.

I hope you find some comfort here! Whitney

Thank you Whitney, I am muddling through it. I am finding some relief in knowing I am not alone. I am very alone, but there are others like me and others who understand. I very much appreciate everyone's kindness and support!
