@Khione13 ne13 - wow, I am so surprised and so glad your mum's dog was ok. That's so reassuring to know. It was super tiny splinter like glass, so in hoping that can't do much harm....

Thank you so much for the encouragement and good vibes.

The pup just puked. :( Now to look through it and see if any glass came up. Which would be a good/bad thing.

My dog is sleeping now, she normally doesn't, so that's weird. Vet said maybe will need surgery, but let's take one step at a time and just keep watching her.

I think right now, like the vet said, watching and waiting is the best thing to do for her. I'm betting she loves you and dogs can sense pretty much every emotion, so maybe use that to try and stay calm? I know it's not the easiest, I'd be a wreck if I was in your situation. But just take one step at a time, like you said and keep trying to stay as calm as you can.

@Justmehere, I was so supprised hearing the story about my mum's dog. Of course every dog is different and a small piece of glass could harm your dog - not to worry you anymore, but trust your vet and I am pretty sure your dog wil be okay. The fact she was sick is a good thing, it shows her body has recognised that there is something there which shouldn't be and that her body is working to get rid of it. Make sure she keeps drinking if she is being sick - she'll need to stay hydrated. I'm not a vet but I did want to be, hence the informtation. But I am not a vet so don't take everything as fact.

Like I've said, she wil be okay. Her sleeping and being sick is a good(ish) thing, her body is probably just trying to get rid of it. And since the glass was small, hopefully it should be out of her system and if not, your vet will know what to do. ^_^

Poor baby :(. But like you said puking is just as good as it is bad. Hopefully she will be like Jada (my chihuahua) and won't need surgery or anything! It is good that it is tiny shards instead of large ones. Those will be easier to pass and less likely to scape her insides as long as she takes it easy. Sleeping sounds like a good thing right now.

Holding Bristol close and praying for you both. Me and Bristol send love and positive thoughts your way!

@khoine13 - I think you are right on about staying calm for her. Thank you for reminding me of this.

She puked twice last night, so maybe there is an underlying thing and she needs me to be her calm carer. She will then be less worried about me and hopefully her tummy will settle.

@FM - I think you are right too. Thank you for the support from you and Bristol.

Staying calm will definitely help her and I believe in you! If you let her drink water, don't let her gulp down large amounts at once as that can make her puke more. Just let her take small drinks from it. Maybe you can do something around the house that is comforting to you and bring a sense of normality to her while still being able to keep a close watch on her…maybe doing a hobby or something?

Yes, this reminded me. The fact she is sleeping is good since the glass will move around less roughly and be much less like to cause any internal harm. So try not to worry about her unusual sleeping @Justmehere. But yes, try to stay calm and keep us updated. I am a massive dog lover and hearing this is sad and I'm worrying for you! Haha, but seriously, try to stay calm and let us know what happens if you're happy to do so.

@FindingMyself88 is right, doing something other than just sitting and watching her might help keep your mind less worryful. You can still keep a close eye on her but if you're doing a hobby or doing some housework, you worrying about her wont be the only thing on your mind.

I will pray that everything will be okay, and that she won't need surgery (I am religious)! I'm also willing to bet that your vet would tell you if you need to worry! It's also important to remember that accidents happen and it is unrealistic to think you could have your eyes on the dog 24/7! You are human, and you did not intend for this to happen! Therefore, please try not to blame yourself!

As others have said, it's important to take care of yourself while keeping a watchful eye on the dog! I'm not sure if this is something that feels right at the moment, but could you contact your therapist for extra support? I would hate for you to have to make an important decision while feeling spacey and anxious! Be gentle with yourself, and keep us updated! Thinking of you!

Thank you so much everyone. I like the idea of doing something calming so I am going to do the dishes. I am now just organizing things which is making me feel good. I threw away my old pots and pans - I needed new ones anyhow and this is a good reason. Thanks for the advice about small amounts of water too. I have been giving her a teaspoon of pumpkin in a small amount of water, every 15 minutes and she's keeping it down well. She is sleepy still, but you all are right that this will help her not move around too much. So far, no more puking - progress.

That's good to hear @Justmehere. ^_^ I'm here hoping that it'll just get better from here - I'm sure it will. It's great you're keeping yourself busy.
