Am I Losing Any Progress?

I'm so confused by the progression of my EMDR. I resumed work with my therapist of 3+ years after a few months of termination, agreed to start EMDR for trauma resolution, being told it would be a much more efficient process than I was used to. A few months later, and after revealing some previously untold details of sexual trauma over a decade old, all that changed and suddenly it sounds like we have months more of work ahead of us. I don't know if my needs have been reassessed, or if I'm starting to be taken advantage of. I have a great therapist, great rapport, relationship, all that, but it's really the first time I'm questioning if $$$ or my recovery is highest priority. This is also someone I'm working with who has bent over backwards in as many ways as possible to accommodate my schedule. Thoughts? I just don't want to be blind about it.

I think you should talk this over with your therapist. Did your therapist promise you a "finish" date? Did you assume that EMDR would only last a few sessions? I don't think it is unreasonable to have a few more months of EMDR sessions added on.... My processing took approximately 70 hours... Multiply that out and you've got probably two solid years plus of once a week sessions. (I did my processing in an accelerated program over a 2 week span.)

Healing is not an exact science, Northgirl, neither physical not emotional. Greed is certainly a human trait, and I see it as a fair question, but there sure are allot of variables that can make additional therapy a good idea.

I agree with @Solara. Talk it over with your therapist. If there is enough trust merit that statement, seems like talking it out would be worth the effort.

You revealed more trauma - so you need more processing. That's all. Talk to your therapist, of course, but there's nothing about this that sounds out of the ordinary.
