I respect your decision, Simon. I am a party loyalist because it's really important to have a Democrat in the White House and to also vote for other Democrats for the House and Senate so that the president has people to work with and who will support him or her to get good things done. We've gone more forward as a country with Democratic presidents than with Republicans (except for Lincoln, when the then-new Republican Party was really more like the Democratic Party now). Think the New Deal from FDR, the Civil Rights movement with JFK and Johnson signing landmark legislation into law, the New Society with Johnson . . . . (And, yeah, Johnson was horrible re the Vietnam War, but he was great on domestic policies.)
