1 Year Today

Today is a special day for us both, as it is 1 year ago today that my husband went to a detox center for ten days and quit drinking.

Apart from a few slip ups that only lasted a few hours each he has been alcohol free ever since.

For all who are finding alcohol a problem you can stop if you are able to find the help and support you need.

It has been tough for him at times but he's still alcohol free, and tonight i am cooking him a special meal to celebrate, with a gooey chocolate cake with cream for afters. We really must cut down on the chocolate, our waist bands are starting to complain.

Some anniversary's need to be celebrated and this is one of them. :occasion:

Thanks for asking. I'm holding my own right now. Thanks to the forum and the post I read here. It is really nice to talk to people who get it and understand it. I am a strong woman but one person can only allow so much and take so much. I have been taking time out for myself these past few days.

This again is so encouraging to read Amethist- well done and I hope you have had a great night and a lovely evening and also Vicky it is good to be able to step back some. I have kind of done that a little not much tonight but a little, but only because I have had some full on days leading up to it today. Tomorrow i am back on the grindstone I think-proper again. You know I cant believe I said that... I have slowed some and it is good, but I wish I could have done it without my bloomin house spec. hah!!

Its good to hear you are slowing down a bit. Remember you have to learn to walk before you can run. How did the house spec go hope it was ok at least you can put that one away and move on to the next thing on you to do list.

That chocolate cake and cream was very over indulgent but hey what the heck will just have to take up jogging so i can eat more lol.

Will catch up with you later today fin. I have got to get him to the dentists this morning, that could be fun, i really do not want to go in with him this time i cannot watch him having his teeth done, but if i have to then i will just have to keep my eyes shut while i hold his hand and i did'nt do that with my girls when they were young.

I am glad that things are going so well. Giving up this addiction can be very difficult.

I'm a bit jealous over the cake though... LOL Chocolate..mmmmmmmmmm!!!! That's MY addiction.

oops forgot to mention he did the dentist on his own. I just sat and waited for him, can't wait to see him in his new front teeth. His face was well numb but he will be ok when it wears of. And the daft devil forgot to take his meds before we went so he had to cope with that aswell, men you can't let them loose can you .lol.
