Unfortunately, if I get therapy it has to be through here, or else I won't be able to afford it! :furious: Sometimes LIFE SUCKS!

Sorry to hear things aren't working out for you WW. She definately should hve phoned you back yesterday - even if it was just to tell you that she was still waiting to hear from those above her.
I think Felix has a very good point
On the other hand we could maybe count your blessings that they've shown themselves to be so inept this early on so that you didn't start full on therapy with them and then be left exposed. Not much comfort I know, but if they don't keep their word surely it's better to know early on.
Have you thought about internet therapy (interapy). Anthony has recently written a Wiki page about this on PTSD forum [DLMURL]http://www.ptsdforum.org/c/wiki/interapy/[/DLMURL]

You know it pisses me off that they first said everything was A-Ok to begin the process. I know not many tdocs do this type of therapy because insurances have problems finding the mysterious code to pay for it ::::rolling eyes::::::: like it's a magic formula or something but it's not unheard of back on planet Earth, shhhh, can be easily 'over-ridden'. What I don't understand is setting a person up to believe this is their policy then yanking the rug out from under them. (Here's the old black and white thinking so forgive me my rant!!) It's not rocket science to either have it available or not, you either can or can't receive phone therapy, it's a yes or no, you don't play with people's emotional state and get them through their first nerve-racking appointment and then let them down! Grrr. The "higher ups" know this and there is always Skype if they feel the need to 'see' you.

Ok, off my soap box. I know ideally it's best to have a client come in on a one on one, however, it appears you were clear as to what you were looking for so I'm sick this has happened for you. When I was doing phone appointments the reason was my Agoraphobia was so severe I literally was incapable of even taking the 10 steps to mailbox. I could not do it. I could not walk my dog. I could not leave my bedroom, I used the adjoining bath. It was completely devastating. I needed help! Slowing the and with work I was able to move forward. Isn't the that the point?

 I hope they are able work this through for your sake and make up for what you are going through. Hopefully if they are not able to handle it themselves they can give you a recommendation. As Felix so wisely pointed out maybe if they are not able to help you the best way to look at it is that they are flakes as a Center and best to find a place more qualified.

Thinking of you and sending you peace and strength!

Oh what a shame WW, to build you up and then pull it out. Health services of all types should be flexible. We are all ( well most of us) human beings with differences and different needs.

I am very lucky to get my one-to-one state funded therapy in the privacy of my own home.( or at least I did before my house got flooded by a burst pipe). It is not that I can not go out it is just more convenient for me, and suits my T too. I actually cannot imagine what it must be like walking into a building - particularly one with a history- and sitting waiting for my T. I get stressed enough just sitting at home watching tv or drinking coffee while waiting for him. And its not as if he is late - if ever he is not going to be on time he phones ahead to warn me.

I do hope 'the powers that be' manage to sort this in your favour. I don't understand why the Therapists, as the professionals don't get the final say on what is or is not appropriate for a client.

BL,
I agree totally. The worst part is that they KNOW clearly that entering there is extremely traumatic for me. The worst part is they actually DO have a "special" telephone counseling for a certain group, but they have a male therapist and unfortunately I can NOT do that! That is the part that to me seems extremely unfair. Basically simply put they have it for males WITH PTSD, but not males, OR females with PTSD due to "my type of trauma"
That is actually hurtful to me. I can't help but to take it personally!

I'm very sorry to hear that it didn't go well and that she didn't get back to you. That's bad and frustrating! I can't add much more than has already been said. I just think the system sucks. I am sure there is a way around it. Maybe she is working on it but just didn't get time to call you back -that is NO excuse for not doing so though. Just wait to see what Monday brings?

I can't understand why they can't give you a female therapist??? Is it because of lack of trained people?

I have been thinking of you, I just haven't been here, but I'll check in again soon. BIG::hug:!!

The therapist they gave me is female. It's just that there "Tele Therapy" program is only run by 1 individual. That Since "they think" there are not enough females to justify it(not sure but that is what I think the case is)they don't want to have a 2nd person doing it full time. So have her do that in addition in place of a certain number of appointments. It makes sense to me.:banghead:

I know its frustrating and unfair. But if that's their rules, and they can't/won't change them for you, then I suggest you find some other organisation who can provide what you need. Getting cross and angry is understandable, but it won't help you get better. Perhaps you could have a serious look at Internet therapy.
Google - "online therapy providers" - I've just done that -here are the first three results (of many....)
[DLMURL]http://www.online-therapy.com/post-traumatic-stress-disorder-ptsd-online-therapy-c-155.html?osCsid=366d67db68dff7fb961cdf5e0fbef5c2[/DLMURL]
[DLMURL]http://www.openmindcounseling.com/default.html[/DLMURL]
[DLMURL]http://www.south-west-psychological-services.com/e-therapy.html[/DLMURL]

Some of these are UK based due to my 'locality settings' in Google, but do your own search and I'm sure you'll get plenty of results to look through. There are also a wide range of prices - just at the 3 I have looked at. So with enough research, you could find something suitable. Good luck
