James I am not surprised to hear that you are an artist. It is evident in your photography. Oh I would love to see the work both of you have done Anni and James. Yes, please do post them!!!!
I am an artist at heart, yes. Either thru words or other medium. My appreciations have changed throughout the years, what I once thought garbage I now find wonderfully creative. Maybe I should pull out my canvasses and brushes, pencils and paper. Not for other's consumption, but instead for my own expression which words cannot seem to reach.
Like you James, I have taken to photography and would LOVE, so dearly love, to have a good camera with lenses. And to take a class or two or three! I find so much beauty around me, especially when out riding or hiking.
My work has no 'deep meaning'-as in 'wel this piece means the end of civilization as we know it' (when the painting shows a black dot on a green canvas-you know what I mean)while the person looking at it nods wisely so they do not look like an idiot because it just looks like a dot to them.
Haha....thanks Anni.......you did make me laugh!
I remember when I was pregnant with our 3rd son we went to see a comedic play entitled "The Empty Nesters". It was about a couple who's last of 3 sons moved out. The wife decided to take her artwork back up again. Planned on turning their pool house into a studio. The first night her husband comes home to find his wife drunk, passed out on the couch. Her canvas standing on it's easle in the dining room. He walks over to it and says "I thought you planned to paint today?" to which she replies "I did, look!". He looks and sees nothing, "Where?" She sobs out "Right there, see the dot? After all these years, that's all that is left in me....." I laughed so hard! Little did I know....a dot.....ha!
I have attached two photos I took this year. I have an idea for one of them but it would require another trip to my mother's place in Tahoe. One which I had planned and fell to pieces due to her selfish desires and cutting words ;o(
The idea is this. To start early in the morning with my youngest granddaughter closeby on the wooden path, her back to the camera. The next would be late morning with my 2nd oldest granddaughter further down the path, then myoldest in early afternoon even further, my daughter in-law comes next, then me and finally my mother at dusk nearing the end of the path. Ah well...dreams ;o)
